Reading for pleasure opens up new worlds for children. It gives them the opportunity to use their imagination to explore new ideas, visit new places and meet new characters. Here are a few pictures from our Reading Café. The children’s faces say it all!

We'd like to say a HUGE thank you to Mark Carney from MFC Foundation for working with our wonderful school to host a Friendly Football match with other local schools! A massive congratulations to the winning teams and a thank you to all of the teams that took part! #mfcf

Wow! We raised £191.27 from our Raisin Challenge that the pupils took part in over the half term holidays. Congratulations to Reception Class who returned the most boxes to earn a class treat! This money goes a long way towards purchasing much needed resources for our school.

Friends of Egglescliffe would like to say a huge thank you to everyone that came and supported our Mad Hatter's Tea Party last Thursday. It was fantastic to see so many families sharing cake, teas and stories together. We raised a massive £230.80! Well done!

Our lovely children have had a fantastic start to World Book Day today! Kicked off with an Alice in Wonderland themed introduction leading into a whole school Drop Everything And Read with teachers and their favourite picture books mixed in with a dance workshop too!

Today, we had a special presentation of some lovely books. This was a charitable act of kindness by the company RPS Pallets as the marketing director used to work in schools and wanted to share her love of reading. We thank you for your generosity!

Happy World Book Day! All of the children look wonderful today and have been having a fantastic time so far! We have had some really inventive and creative costumes and all of the staff are themed together too! Watch this space for some photos later today...

DON'T FORGET! On Thursday it is WORLD BOOK DAY! We really value reading at Egglescliffe CE Primary and we never underestimate the importance of children receiving enjoyment from their reading. We will have lots of fun activities taking place throughout the day.

We'd like to say a HUGE well done to two of our children that performed in a performance of Matilda in Middlesbrough! We heard you were absolutely fantastic and the confidence and resilience it takes to perform on stage is amazing!

🌟COSTUME SWAP🌟 As our children grow, many costumes can be kept unused and unwanted. Therefore we will be hosting a costume swap from 3.20pm in Year 6 classroom. Why not come along and try something new.

Reminder that it's our School Disco tomorrow night! Friends of Egglescliffe are hosting a School Disco: Early Years and KS1- 5pm-6pm KS2 - 6.30pm-7.30pm Tickets are £3 and available for payment through ParentPay Extra sweets and tattoos are available to purchase.

We'd like to wish a HUGE good luck to our fantastic Y5/6 girls football team in the finals today! We are SO proud of you whatever the outcome!

Tomorrow, some of our wonderful Year 6 children are hosting a Bake Sale to raise money for school sportswear that will be worn during sports events. Items ranging from 20p to 50p will be available to buy during break times and lunch times.
