@pwharris Very true!! I experienced this "Aha...NOW I get it" with a second grader this year. It made my day! Since then her attitude and confidence during Math lessons are a joy to watch.
After our 2nd and 3rd grade learning labs today in Miami Beach, one teacher said her biggest takeaway was that “You don’t need to work with big numbers to do big thinking.” I absolutely love this quote.
In Leadership, IQ means little if you lack EQ and especially if you lack InterRelational intelligence. It is the ability to understand, connect with, and effectively communicate with staff, students, parents, and community. It involves active listening, conflict resolution, building relationships, and fostering collaboration.

@fawnpnguyen@MikeFlynn55 Thank you so much for replying! Love it! I have more than 25 years of teaching and now I fianlly feel I am more the Math teacher I always wanted to be. I am still learning, of course.
@EhlerdingLia@MikeFlynn55 Hi Lia. I talked about each of the 10 things you see on the slide image there. Stories from my days as a classroom teacher, what I learned and continue to learn.
Amazing! @fawnpnguyen crushed the keynote at #cmcmath. She had us laughing, crying, and connecting with each other as we shared ways we cultivate joy and foster growth in mathematics.
Leadership is not about pulling people to follow your path. It's about shining enough light for them to find their own route.
Bosses aim to wield power. They issue commands to maintain control.
Leaders strive to empower. They delegate authority to unleash potential.
