My new job offers alternative work schedules & lots of people take them, including senior leadership. I asked for the 1st Friday off of the pay period for the summer (I make up the hours during the rest of it so total hours worked is the same). First Friday off! Happy Pride!!!

@DavidSacks Not to mention when people are on travel. Oh, I am on a work trip for a week to Nigeria, I can't do anything on my other projects b/c I cannot be in the office. Remote work increases work opportunities & engagement opportunities. Bad management is what you really are blaming.

@DavidSacks Remote work makes overcoming timezones challenges less onerous - I had one reoccuring call that involved people from Seattle, DC, London, Geneva, & New Delhi. You gonna ask Seattle people to take a 5am call from the office? Or ask the guy in New Delhi to stay until 10pm?

It’s time to admit that Remote Work doesn’t work. WFH Friday is a 4 day work week. Full WFH is a 2 day work week. Every interaction has to be scheduled, which means a lot of information-sharing doesn’t happen. Remote is a great lifestyle, not a way to build a great company.

@byJudeDoyle Yes! Trans women are often more targeted because traitors are punished more severely than thieves- we kinda "get" why people would want to steal but not understand betrayal. Trans women are punished for rejecting masculinity.

This is Twitter, and I'm not going to get every nuance into one tweet, but, roughly: In the logic of patriarchy, the transfeminine person is a traitor and the transmasculine person is a thief. One betrays & refuses masculinity. One presumes above their station. Both are punished.

Something I've been thinking about, w/r/t the pseudo-feminist grief about "tomboys" being transed, is that the tomboy is an inherently unthreatening figure. She's a child. She's a "she." She can be read as a girl who admires men enough to imitate them. She might grow out of it.

@jamesheathers You are 100% correct that in remote, we cannot get away with "ambient management". Too few people really think or learn about how to manage people well. I had to learn b/c my company swam or sank based on the productivity of my staff... which hinged on my ability to manage them.

@jamesheathers We created the 3 email exchange rule... If, after 3 email exchanges, you are no closer to agreement or clarity... PICK UP THE PHONE AND TALK IT OUT. We had to be explicit after days long exchanges where people got hugely pissy over what was a small disagreement.

Go read the linked document. 😲 Moral of the story: local elections count. For day to day quality of life? They are more important than federal elections. It takes 2-4 hours a month to keep on top of your town council/county board of supervisors. It is time well spent.
