The Blood of Dawnwalker, an upcoming vampire RPG by former The Witcher 3 & Cyberpunk 2077 developers just got a massive amount of new information!
Main features:
- Releasing September 3rd on PS5, Xbox and PC
- Open world vampire RPG, with a unique twist where time matters and certain quests/actions only show up on a specific date
- You can turn into a wolf for much quicker traversal as a vampire at night
- Human by Day, Vampire by night where the entire gameplay is different depending on the time of day
- Time does not move forward unless specific actions are made, for example, some skills require time to move forward or quests.
- Some side activities in the open world are exclusive to day time and some are exclusive to night time
- Dialogue options seem to really matter, and different choices can affect outcomes for quests
- Restore health by feeding on humans or animals, the more you feed, the more vampire abilities are unlocked
- They added abilities quick slots option after community feedback
- Perks are acquired at shrines by spending XP points at them, there is a full skill tree with many abilities to unlock
- Some abilities are shared between the vampire and human forms
- You can use shrines to fast travel, storage or to wait.
- Every new day, new edicts are enacted and the higher your infamy is, the more you will be punished for your actions but also new questlines may unlock
- With infamy, you can anger specific major vampires that unlock new questlines. it fully depends on how your actions influence that specific person
- You play as Coen, after being turned into a vampire, you go on a revenge against the vampire who turned you, called Brencis. It is all about gathering allies and staging a rebellion.
- Seems like there is romance, likely a choice in the story!
The Blood of Dawnwalker's gameplay reminds me most of The Witcher 2 in specific, the camera angle, the world, it really reminds me of that fantastic game! My only feedback from the great gameplay reveal is the movement animations look janky, I hope they get polished for launch.
Aside from that, I am seriously excited for the release in just 4 months, I think this will be a great RPG and if the story is as great as everything else these guys have worked on, then I am sure this will be a fantastic game overall. Are you excited for it?
