I genuinely don’t understand why being taciturn or reticent (traits that are often synonymous with being introverted) offends people, especially in social settings/situations. People assume you’re “antisocial” or shy when really you just don’t feel like performing for anyone.

being introverted is weird because people think you’re shy, rude, or “too serious” when really you just don’t feel the need to turn every second of silence into noise yes, i can be social i just don’t enjoy performing friendliness for no reason small talk drains me forced energy drains me being expected to be “on” all the time drains me and somehow the quiet person is always the one asked to explain themselves maybe introverts aren’t hard to understand maybe people just get uncomfortable around someone who doesn’t perform for approval what do people misunderstand most about introverts?
