#Elastos Carrier2.0 has three kinds of relay nodes: 1) SuperNode (Java) running on servers with static IP addresses; 2) NativeNode (C/C++) running on iOS, Android, Linux devices/RaspberryPi(s); 3) JS code running inside browsers. Carrier2.0 SDK is going Beta in January 2023.

“Decentralized Carrier of Personal Cloud Computes” is the key paradigm shift, whether calling it as #Web3 OS is not as important. What’s an OS? Each user has an ID, has a private storage, communicates peer to peer, all guaranteed/facilitated by the OS. Can we do it for #Web3?

This is an idea many of us believed in and worked on before the tech was ready to support it. But times have changed, tech has advanced, and the hardware cost curve has bent downward to the point it may now be viable. I'm glad influential folks like Jack are raising the issue.

#Web3 must be able to keep going, independent of any organizations or governments. Blockchain & #Web3 node miners are indispensable. All users on #Web3 have their own self-sovereign ID, digital homesteads (data vaults), inalienable rights to communication with others.

DID + Storage + Compute + Communication = PC2 (ie, Personal Cloud Compute). Blockchains are consensus computers, complementary to #Web2 clouds, which won’t be able to replace #PC2. So one can expect that “Dell”, “HP” & “Lenovo” smart contracts running on the #Elastos EID chain.

To own data on #Web3, users must— 1) have a place to stash & process them 24x7, which I call Personal Cloud Compute #PC2; 2) prevent data from being stolen/pirated by apps/dApps, all of which have ways & means as well as intents to be evil. That’s why there must be a #Web3 OS.

#Elastos #Carrier 2.0 is a trade off between #Onion & centralized clouds. Instead of 3-hops for #Onion, Carrier2.0 has mostly 1-hop (miner) between 2 parties, but messages are E2E encrypted. #Elastos is to facilitate #Web3 P2P economy, rather than building yet another dark-web.
