Better to say the need for ECMO not ECMO itself is associated with survival differences. In fact, patients who are bridged and survive to 30 days after transplant show no difference in long term survival.

The trouble with translating articles like this in practice is pts on ECMO, program practices, and the diagnoses leading to multi organ transplant are diverse. Pts on ECMO are very sick. Lots of confounding unmeasured variables.
