@GokuInnovates I tried Grok several times and was not impressed at all. Not using it anymore. For me, Twitter after all still has a great product community. Even tho it keeps on declining. Still okayish for me.

@toddcharron @KiwiDenny Unfortunately, Twitter offers zero transparency on this. Elon Musk kept complaining about lack of transparency on engagement and analytics before acquiring Twitter 1.0, but he hasn’t done anything about it so far.

@KiwiDenny The real puzzle to me is why is engagement down so much? Have the active users abandoned the platform? Was the previous engagement activity mostly bots? No subscription can create real engagement, but what changes have caused it decrease so much?

X Premium Plus is a total ripoff! So many broken promises! I give you plenty of examples. Twitter Impressions One "feature" of X Premium Plus should have been "boost posts". Well... I hit my high end of last year with November and December getting over 1 million impressions for both of the months. Late in December I signed up for X Premium Plus and look at the stats. It is a tremendous decline in the numbers. Especially the last three months are bad (in comparison). Followers Looking at the increase of followers over time the huge decline in impressions does look even more stupid. Way more followers = way less impressions? Am I happy with the follower growth? Of course! But I see it as an opportunity to have more in depth conversations, meet new people etc. Well ... Engagement Large accounts such as @nurijanian are experiencing a huge decline in engagement. Same for me. Not just the views dropped dramatically, but also the engagement. Please see below an excerpt of one of the engagement metrics: likes per month. There was a huge spike in January this year, but since then constant decline. Again compare this with the follower increase above. This does not make any sense. Twitter Analytics is broken As you can see in the picture, it states I had exactly zero impressions on Wednesday. This does not make any sense at all. Looking at the stats for the posts itself I had over 16.000 impressions. Furthermore, you can only see your data for the last 12 months. Rest disappears. Check this out and tell me whether you experience the same. Grok One of the reasons I actually signed up was Grok. It was not explicitly stated it was not available in my country. It was actually part of the subscription feature overview just before the purchase. Eventually I had to wait for six months to actually get access. --- I'm not happy with the latest development of the platform. Every content creator knows it takes quite the effort to create content. And at least I do not just want to drop something somewhere, but I want people to engage and get in touch. Having conversations, meeting new people, learning from them. The way Twitter currently functions this is hardly possible. But what's the worst: paying for a broken promise.

@DevoceanWarrior They want to monetise the hell out of everyone. In general, I do not have a problem with that. But I do have a problem when someone promises something but eventually it does not work.

@KiwiDenny That’s interesting insight. For every feature there is a payment wall now. Even to create communities I need to get premium.

@KiwiDenny Correct. Pricing of X/Twitter plans is actually a scam. The consumer should know exactly what he is getting for what he is actually paying. This is entirely unclear with their current Pricing and plans. Someone should actually start suing them.

@katefros @ylecun Total BS. Yann LeCun explained this multiple of times. Regulating Maths doesn’t lead to accountability, and not regulating Maths doesn’t lead to lack of accountability.

The level of delulu is very high with Tech noobs. We are on track to decelerate on everything, mainly because of doomers and decels pushing for regulatory capture. For at least a decade, there were no breakthroughs in AI and yet somehow you see people making these posts. 🙄

you guys realize that we’re on track to finally solve nearly every big tech idea this decade right? ☑️ virtual reality ☑️ artificial intelligence ☑️ self driving cars ☑️ nuclear fusion ☑️ spacex starship humanity deserves a pat on the back

Bravery is important, but not enough. We need governance systems that allow the individual (i.e., the smallest individual) to disagree with established norms and the status quo. Tech helps, but we need systemic changes that amplify the voice of outliers and misfits.
Beff (e/acc)@beffjezos

Innate fear of being ostracized is a gravitational pull towards the center of mass of opinions. Cultivate sufficient bravery and resolve to achieve contrarian escape velocity. It's the only way to achieve anything truly revolutionary.

Every app and AI product should have a simple toggle! 1) A productivity (exploitation) mode 2) A waifu (exploration) mode Social media apps, messaging platforms, chatbots, AI assistants, e-learning platforms, FinTech apps, … all of them should have this toggle.
aoi@aoighost

@xw4ffl35x Pretty much, there’s productivity mode, and waifu mode, it needs to be a toggle

Now you are talking! Open Marketplace for AI models, systems, products and services. It’s included in our Whitepaper. The whole ecosystem must coordinate to achieve this, despite our minor disagreements. Visionaries of the world, unite!
Daniel@growing_daniel

The corollary is that we can’t regulate this and an open market for models is crucial. We’re facing off with an evil empire, we need all hands on deck, and VCs to fund every project. We have that right now and I hope it doesn’t go away.

Clearly @vkhosla can profit financially from a closed approach to AI. But I don't think that his main reason to oppose open source frontier models. He is genuinely worried about China getting its hands on it. That worry is misguided. First, Chinese AI scientists and engineers are quite talented, and very much able to "fast follow" the West and innovate themselves (there are lots of good ideas from Chinese publications that make the whole community advance). Second, the Chinese government is even *more* worried about a lack of control of AI technology than their counterparts in liberal democracies. Imagine a future where every citizen's digital diet is mediated by AI assistants. This will clearly affect people's knowledge and opinions of politics, history, value systems, etc. AI assistants are fast becoming a kind of compressed repository of all human knowledge. Once such assistants are available for download and can be run locally, the Great Firewall of China is toast. The control of authoritarian governments over the information received by their citizens will be considerably more difficult to enforce. A future in which everyone has access to a wide variety of AI assistants with a diverse collection of expertise, language ability, culture, value systems, political opinions, and interpretations of history is the future we want. That future can *only* come about through open source AI platforms enabling a large diversity of fine-tuned systems.
Vinod Khosla@vkhosla

Open source is good for VC's and innovation. Open Source SOTA models is really bad for national security
