@ElectrumWallet ...would be nice to have a sentence explaining what it is or why it's significant. "swaps on boltz" is just word salad to most coming across posts like this.

@WhalesSecret Well, twitter isn't the right place to host this kind of discussion; you should open an issue on github. Note: If the server uses our protocol (not Boltz), then a reverse swap failing will not result in the user losing fees, because the invoices are bundled.

Yes, I get that. In a way the reverse swap also can fail with the user losing the fee invoice funds, that's the risk the user is undertaking and it is generally supported case in the old Boltz interface we are building on. In the old flow, the server could reject the swap request if they could not find a route (just analyzing upfront). Of course, it could still fail later when actually trying to pay it. The question is - would you be willing to accept such contribution to your source that would - include a flag in the swap server's announcement that the server supports the old flow (so that we can know which servers can be used for the old swap flow) - reintroducing support for the old swap flow on the server side or is this something you'd not be happy to have? If not, would this help - a configuration option so that the new swap servers do not have this enabled by default, so they have to opt-in, thus unless you opt-in your swap server does not support it

@WhalesSecret The old flow was removed because servers sometimes fail to find a route for the LN payment, in which case users have to get an on-chain refund (funds locked + mining fees). The new flow cannot be supported with bolt11 invoices; it requires a wallet that supports hold invoices.

Thank you. Now reading the Electrum code for forward swap, we see this, which sounds unfortunate for us. With the old flow, we could easily implement support for forward swaps as well, but no idea how to do that with the new flow as we do not have control over the user's LN wallet. Any ideas, or chances to also support the old flow on the servers again?

@ElectrumWallet Why? I don't think people need more custodial solutions. Let them buy ETFs or MSTR.

Someone needs to write a Cashu plugin for Electrum.
