The far-right National Popular Front, often described as neo-fascist, made gains but performed less strongly than pre-election polls had predicted. The center-left Democratic Party (DIKO) remained just above 10 %, while the centrist ALMA and the "Direct Democracy" party of YouTuber and MEP Fidias Panayiotou entered Parliament. The centre-left EDEK Socialist Party lost its representation in Parliament, as did the centrist of "Democratic Alignment" (DIPA).

🇹🇷#Turkey: Across Turkey, CHP activists and elected officials gathered throughout the day to denounce what Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu described as a "palace coup". They received support from a large part of the opposition, as well as from several trade unions such as DİSK and KESK. "We call on all democratic forces, especially labor organizations, and everyone who wants to defend the future of this country to strengthen the common struggle against this siege, which is growing heavier every day on the people and workers" said in a statement four trade unions including DISK and KESK.

🇹🇷#Turkey: The crackdown on the opposition in Turkey is intensifying. Today, riot police forcibly entered the HQ of the main opposition party, the Republican People’s Party (CHP), with the objective of removing its current leadership. This follows a politically driven court ruling intended to weaken the party ahead of the next elections. The decision is only the latest in a long series of actions against the opposition. Since March 2025, the party’s presidential candidate and Mayor of Istanbul, Ekrem İmamoğlu, has been imprisoned and faces a total of 2,430 years in prison. In 2019, his election as Mayor of Istanbul was annulled by the courts, before he won the rerun election again by an even larger margin. He also reacted today to the court’s decision, describing it as a "palace coup". The photo below shows Özgür Özel, the leader removed by this court decision, marching through the streets of the country’s capital to denounce the ruling. "They tried to uproot us and throw us out - but to where?" said Özgür Özel to a crowd of supporters. He also added that the party would "from now on be in the streets and public squares, marching towards power".
