no but I TOTALLY love how the British really just thought that they're the only ones capable of complex thought and just assumed that Meghan Markle "needed to be educated" in the correct way to speak, as if that doesn't discredit her AND simultaneously erase her identity

If only Joe's heart had the capacity for love, loyalty and strength, maybe it wouldn't have been as fragile as this:

@EGarncarz yes I totally agree!! So many people like to add their own opinions bc they're afraid of being seen as irrelevant or something
English

Another instance of people presuming they know what's best for other people's health. It happens in Misery, The Yellow Wallpaper, and Hills Like White Elephants. Why can't we see that the best person to advise us on how to take care of ourselves is ourselves?

@NehaThurai yes he's very self-centered !! it's like the whole world revolves around him and women should just automatically want whatever he wants...

I'm pretty sure the point of giving people special gifts is that the gift should reflect the other person? Joe really just said ok it'll still be special if I give a ton of them out, when that clearly makes it about him and not about the person who receives it anymore?

The beauty of ✨menstruation✨
1. Women have to learn about it
2. Women have to experience it
3. Men know everything about it

Dang I really hope Joe never dates anyone with a deathly nut allergy.
I suppose giving unique gifts tailored to someone’s personal interests never occurred to him.

If I had a nickel for every person in my life who completely discounted my opinion, or straight up just overlooked my existence, and I didn't say ANYTHING... Like I get so angry about "The Yellow Wallpaper" and her submissive attitude and yet who am I to talk??

okay but I'm 100% sure that this gif is a visual representation of when a guy calls me a girl instead of a woman. like I want to correct him, but then I'm afraid he'll make fun of me or tell me I'm being too sensitive, LIKE A LITTLE GIRL. it's a lose-lose scenario lol :/

English

@EGarncarz Yes I totally agree with your analysis! The way women speak is often seen as a burden to their own arguments, when saying "like" or having vocal fry really shouldn't have any impact at all, because it ultimately doesn't detract from the argument's strength!
English

Women shouldn't feel compelled to communicate their thoughts in the same manner as men because of the long burden of silence they have endured. Hapsis refers to criticism of her voice as, for instance, "say "like" less" in her review, yet the issue is not with her voice. #mcrpi2b

A2: In Hemingway's story, the girl's initial comment about the hills looking like white elephants leads to their discussion about her decision. But later the girl retracts her point about the hills, showing uncertainty in her decision or her ability to voice her opinion.

English

@Abigail__MCL Oh my god I didn't even realize that but that's absolutely true! I wondered why something felt so condescending about the way he explained it to us...
English

Did I really just listen to this man essentially read me the definition of speaking for 7 minutes and 47 seconds? #mcrpi2a

English

@NehaThurai Right? They're completely feeding into exactly what men want them to do! There's definitely some irony there...

Okay so this man completely talks over a woman's COMPLETELY VALID concerns over her own body? Then dismisses her fears and tells her that he knows female fertility better than she does? This is like the pinnacle form of mansplaining. Cancelled.
