@DungeonNoir 100% true. I actually like Saga Edition better than d6 (which I like, but I think people view with nostalgia goggles and hasn't aged particularly well). It's a shame that it came during the transition from 3.x to 4e and got muddled in the process.

@fabiaschi OUTSTANDING! The only changes I'd make would be making it a d20 table and a d10 table instead of percentile (I just personally like to keep things simple where possible). But fantastic encounters and hazards!

@DungeonNoir 3.0 was fantastic. 3.5 was okay. It suffered from option bloat and a move towards becoming a glorified miniatures game rather than an RPG. But we still played it up until 4th came out. 4th made us go all the way back to first edition.

@JiltedValkyrie Seriously glad you're enjoying it! I used to think you had to suffer through season 1 to get to the good stuff later, but as I've revisted it, there are some real shining moments in the first season.

Why did you guys tell me season 1 of Babylon 5 was rough? It's one of the better freshman seasons of any show I've ever seen. Mr Garibaldi and Susan Ivanova are two of the best-written sci-fi characters I've ever had the pleasure of getting to know. It kind of makes me sad we don't get characters like that anymore, do we? Ivanova is girl boss done right and Garibaldi is a man with purpose with realistic past problems. You guys tried to set me up for a low blow, but the "weakest" episode of the entire show (the fighting episode) was far more enjoyable than a few of SG-1s early episodes. There hasn't been much G'Kar yet, but I've also learned to really enjoy Londo. I see much of myself in Ivanova, and I think finding a character you relate heavily to is paramount for every show--it makes it personal. And wow, Walter Koenig AND Jeffrey Combs in the Psi Corps?? Outstanding cast all-round so far. I'm halfway through "A Voice in the Wilderness (Part 2)" and thoroughly enjoying the cookie crumbs of story beats they're clearly setting up for later. Sure, Babylon 5 plays out like Days of Our Lives in Space, and it was far too nuanced for my 9-year-old mind when it released, but the characters, acting, and storypieces are honestly as relevant today as ever, easily accessible and meaningful as an adult more than 30 years later. Perhaps the seasons 3-4 are just so good, you find that the first season underwhelming, but I'd already place the show in my Top 10 Sci-Fi Series list had it only the first season.

@OriginalGrogna1 Some of my best gaming memories of my entire life were with second edition AD&D. Did it have its problems? Yeah. sure. It introduced us for better or worse to story-based fantasy gaming instead of murder hobo gaming. But I love it with all the pieces of my heart.

Thoughts on Advanced Dungeons & Dragons 2nd edition? I remember when this came out, and I remember some hesitation at our table. It was probably the first major change in our gaming at that point in time. Did you switch over? #dnd #tsr #osr #ttrpg #rpg #nostalgia
