Day 24, For many autistic elves, Christmas is exhausting, with people, changes, lights, music 😭 It's okay for them to not open presents, have plain pasta, sit at their own table, eat in their room, use their ipad, or whatever else they need. Because it is their Christmas too.❤

Day 23, #ELFAdvent #ElfAwareness Of course it is Sports Direct! With an out of order sign so high it can be hard for some wheelchair users to see, no call bell, and no way to let a staff member know you are outside. Apparently, they think disabled people don't do sports. 🤬

Day 22, #ELFAdvent #ElfAwareness Many disabled children have never been on a swing. Wheelchair accessible swings exist but are very rare in play parks. Yet everyone knows how vital movement and play are for physical and mental development. 🙄

Day 21, #ELFAdvent #ElfAwareness Parking is like buying new trousers - if your arse spills out you try a different pair!

In some places, you are more likely to find a Woolly Mammoth than you are a Changing Places toilet. But, @theboxplymouth has both for!!! Thank you for providing so much information to help those with sensory needs, and a marvellously clear path around all the exhibits too.

This is really important. I have friends who have children who have slept through Christmas after having a seizure. It really can be devastating.

Day 20, #ELFAdvent #ElfAwareness 1 in 260 people in the UK depend on toilets with a ceiling hoist & adult sized changing table to access the toilet or change a pad. We need to talk about it. Because what do you think happens to people when these facilities are not there? 💩

Do your Christmas lights flash or flicker? A very dear reindeer friend of mine has photosensitive epilepsy. Flashing or flickering lights, as well as some patterns of flashing, can trigger seizures, potentially ruining Christmas when the sleigh gets delayed. #EpilepsyAwareness

We have found an “Out of Order” sign on #ChangingPlaces toilets before. When it is the only usable one for miles, you find out what is wrong! We discovered the shower that was broken and that the rail on the bench was sticking. Hoist, toilet, bench and basin still usable.

Day 19, #ELFAdvent #ElfAwareness Sometimes facilities break. But do they have to be closed? Is there another usable option that you can direct people to? Give people information. And Get It Fixed!!!

Day 18, #ELFAdvent #ElfAwareness Disabled people go out at night too. In gaming, levels get harder as you progress. In real life, night time should not be a harder level with greater risk of death.
