Today, we successfully carried out the evacuation of 10 children between 5 and 10 months old from a charity organization for orphans in Khartoum.
We are relieved to see these extremely vulnerable children brought to safety in Wad Madani.
Sudan Doctors for Human Rights deeply mourns the loss of Dr. Hisham Elkhider, a member of the organisation and former president of the British Medical Association. Dr. Hisham Elkhider was a symbol of dedication and sacrifice in the service of humanity and the promotion of human rights.
Dr. Hisham Elkhider made significant contributions in the field of medicine and advocating for human rights in Sudan and the United Kingdom. He was a pioneer in health awareness and the development of medical services. With the departure of Dr. Hisham Elkhider, justice has lost a strong voice, a balanced mind, and a guide.
The loss of Dr. Hisham Elkhider is a great loss for the organisation, the medical community, and human rights in general.
As we mourn his passing, we remember his valuable contributions and pledge to continue his mission in working towards social justice and health for all.
We extend our deepest condolences to the family and loved ones of Dr. Hisham Elkhider, and we pray that they find peace and solace in this difficult time. We assure them that his legacy will continue to inspire us all to continue the struggle for human rights and justice in Sudan.

Prominent Surgeon Arrested in Khartoum Today. Sudanese American Physicians Association (SAPA) Calls for His Immediate Release
The Sudanese American Physicians Association (SAPA) reported today that Dr. Alaa Eldin Awad Mohamed Nogoud, a prominent surgeon and pro-democracy activist in Sudan, was arrested by militants at his home in Khartoum earlier today.
Dr. Nogoud, the Secretary General of the Sudan Association of Surgeons, has been an outspoken critic of the militants.
According to SAPA, 17 medical professionals have been killed since the eruption of the conflict. In response to Dr. Nogoud’s arrest, SAPA’s Board of Directors released the following statement:
“We strongly condemn the arrest of our colleague and close friend Dr. Alaa Eldin Mohamed Nogoud by the militants in Khartoum today. The deliberate targeting of doctors has been a feature, not a bug, of the horrific crisis, and it must stop now. We are deeply concerned about Dr. Nogoud’s safety and call for his immediate release. We urge the international community to take strong action now to protect medical professionals on the ground.”
