I know that degrowth can be challenging, and perhaps even counterintuitive for some people. If you're new to the idea, you probably have a million questions. I get it. I've been there. I wrote this book with you in mind. jasonhickel.org/less-is-more

When it’s about something that's in 10 years’ time, they're more than happy to vote for it because it doesn’t really impact them. But when it’s something that actually has an effect right here right now, they don’t want to touch it. It shows the hypocrisy. theguardian.com/environment/20…

As long as we don’t treat the climate crisis like a crisis, we can have as many climate conferences and summits as we want, but as it is now it will just be negotiations, empty words, loopholes and greenwash. theguardian.com/environment/20…

The death of Anthony Van Dyck is no "freak accident". A horse dies *at least* once every 3 days in Australian racing. The risk is known, but deemed to be a risk worth taking in the pursuit of gambling profits. #NuptotheCup #MelbourneCup

The UN has published a new report on "Harmony with Nature", which outlines the remarkable steps that some countries and cities have been taking away from growth-based economics. It's an inspiring list, starting on page 4. undocs.org/en/A/75/266

This remarkable paper shows that high-income nations could reduce their resource consumption by up to 80% and still provide flourishing lives for all: mdpi.com/2079-9276/3/3/…

Supreme Court docs reveal Adani secretly followed my wife and took photos of my 9yo 🤬 This is what Labor and the LNP support. Unless @QldGreens get the balance of power in #QldVotes, Adani will STILL be allowed to operate in Qld. Vote Greens 1, Labor 2 🙏🏼 (#StopAdani thread 1/3)

This is surely one of the most important climate facts we've learned this year: high-income countries use a staggering 20x more energy than is actually required to ensure flourishing lives for all.

In Māori communities, the custom of "rāhui" is employed to restrict use of certain resources - rivers, forests, fisheries - in order to allow ecosystems to recover, and out of respect for other living beings. This is the sort of ethic we desperately need to learn.
