Multnomo.org is looking to investigate merging Portland and Multnomah County. If they collect 22k signatures a commission is convened to craft a new charter to put before voters. Given the lack of coordination between the two it’s worth considering.

@Dan_Christensen That’s what I meant by economic well-being. You can’t thrive or deliver services without good jobs and commerce.

@EliforPortland Increasing and focusing on livability is a mirage that only brings false hope and temporary gains. We need to focus on employability and lowering barriers to commerce. Without commerce all you are doing is putting a better looking landscaping around a dry rotting house.

@Cecelia78932677 There has been a long term failure in the US to recognize the value of immigration, and to both create an accessible avenue of legal immigration, and enforce reasonable rules. Both parties have been at fault here.

@EliforPortland I heard the laws that Trump is using to deport illegals were enacted by the Dems under Clinton.

@johnddoerr I have no issue with deporting a violent felon. Stopping moms on their way to pick up their kids is dumb. We need policy revision. It should be easier to legally immigrate. The way the US integrates immigrant populations is actually a huge advantage.
