@Clarksson12 The view that ability, finances, & glory are what matters ignores the reality of a young boy who dreams to play for the team his father took him to see growing up. Before I was here, and after I’m dead. My club will remain. The same goes for any player that steps on our pitch

@Clarksson12 World class talent would unlikely ever want to play in Canada, but this is true for the MLS as well. Comparatively to Europe, the MLS is poor. We don’t need all the world’s best to enjoy what we have. Individual ability is unimportant. Clubs should be what is important

Canadian sports teams do not need America. The quality of most sports in the US is awful. Look at ⚽️ The best MLS players/managers flop in places like 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿, even if they go to the only 2 successful teams there. So don’t even make it a “we’d be worse without their money” thing

@PrancingPony643 @EvynCAN MLS benefit from •expanded TV deals into Canada •strong attendances from OUR teams •competitive & commercial contribution -distorts our pyramid -we are guests & can’t qualify for the CONCACAF via MLS -rules treat Canadians differently -US Soccer controls league governance

@ElilHeylil Your clubs participate in US leagues because canaduh has bent the knee to the US and recognizes that they are inferior. Lol

@Clarksson12 Furthermore, basketball, baseball, & American football, are not sports that I care for. On principle, this does apply to them. But please, don’t pretend these are serious sports like football. ⚽️

@Clarksson12 My point isn’t that we would be *better* without American TV & prize money. It’s that we shouldn’t be afraid to have our own national leagues in sports because of quality. Thats a very American mindset. We should be more European: loyal & humble. Dedicated regardless of quality

@1010220Collect “Canaduh” is very juvenile. I would rather you call me a slur or something hurtful than this kids show crap. Dont embarrass yersel My point isn’t that I care about the quality of the sport. It’s that defending our clubs participation in US leagues by citing “quality” is dumb.

@ElilHeylil "The quality of most sports in the US is awful." canaduh got swept in Olympic hockey by the US. If they're awful what does that say about canaduh? Lol

Too many folk want to copy the glory of European teams without realising the utter humble beginnings they had. Without those humble beginnings, their current glory would mean nothing
Máirín | CANZUK Canuck 🍁@ElilHeylil

@Sean_C2 @ChrisIvey865 This is why our sports will always die off. This attitude. We’ll never be as great, dedicated, loyal as Europe. Think I made the right choice supporting rangers. We’ll remain a lost cause with this American mindset

@KiddsL47940 @eliasmakos The quality of the game doesn’t mean anything to me. Integrity does, and we will never have any if we’re too scared to make our own leagues because the super stars might not want to play in it It’s boring watching American based teams win everything anyway isn’t it?

@ElilHeylil @eliasmakos You have a point. For NBA, MLB and NHL I think it’s probably good to be in those leagues, but soccer could be like CFL. A Canada national league. Also I think your basketball summer league is pretty good. Some British based players sometimes play in that.

The Vancouver Whitecaps will move to the U.S. CF Montreal will move to the U.S. The Winnipeg Jets will move to the U.S. This is a ripple effect of the relentless drop of GDP per capita in Canada over the past decade.

@ElilHeylil @ChrisIvey865 LOL, you are not going to get anywhere by complaining that prospective fans expect quality on the pitch. If it’s not there, people have a million other entertainment options.

If MLS allows the Caps to move, then it needs to be forced to relinquish its 2 country exemption and give Montreal and Toronto to the CPL.

@Sean_C2 @ChrisIvey865 They clearly spent outwith their means. Theres micro states like Luxembourg that have 10+ team leagues A country like 🇨🇦 can have an 18 team league easily. The issue is the fact some care more about the quality on the park than what a club is meant to represent locally.

@ElilHeylil @ChrisIvey865 Experience has not borne that out. People are consistently far more excited for cross-border leagues. The last attempt at a Canadian soccer league was a miserable failure.

@Sean_C2 @ChrisIvey865 Theres untapped potential here for football. People don’t know their local teams because half of them die in the first 10 year Give them a division to compete for silverware in & suddenly locals will hear their town is the “champions” of something. It will turn heads

@Sean_C2 @ChrisIvey865 Shocked that its hard to establish somethin? Many teams in 🇪🇺 went & nearly died early on-like Arsenal Theres every reason to believe that 🏆 success increases attendances I would rather have a poor league than spending years supporting a club only for it to get moved to the US

@jonwicksdog @JoshuaRDuder These things are rightfully hated across Europe and it’s is in NA that are at fault for their existence. & in a world where our teams are all in a national league, it becomes more exciting as Canadian rivalries spread & Canadian teams win everything. Attendances would go up.

@ElilHeylil @JoshuaRDuder European football is all commercialized at the highest levels btw. Champions league has a half time show. MLS and Vancouvers fans made that one of Canadas largest teams. A league that averaged under 4k in attendance is unsustainable.

▪️Hear me out. The Caps sell their MLS franchise rights to a new ownership group but retain all NASL, USL, & MLS records. ▪️Merge with Vancouver FC of CanPL. ▪️Toronto & Montreal next - strengthen CanPL then CONCACAF give them 1 more spot in CCL. ▪️Leagues Cup expands to CanPL.

@Sean_C2 @ChrisIvey865 Yes the quality would be worse on the pitch. But for the 1st time we would have an atmosphere & tradition of our own. Attendances going up means that we’d get a bigger league, bigger TV deal, and the quality would improve. Would it be MLS levels? No. This does not matter.

@Sean_C2 @ChrisIvey865 We don’t have a football ecosystem. We gave our best supported clubs to America with a bow tied on them. Fans would attend more with a stable set of teams that have existed for long enough, and have begun winning trophies competed against other Canadian teams. It’s more exciting
