Hey, it's been a while since we've spoken, I don't know if you've noticed, but I haven't been posting in English as much lately, and there's a pretty big reason behind it, one that I'll elaborate upon in the following paragraphs.
From the very beginning of my commentary career, I've always wanted to establish myself as a powerhouse in both of the languages I excel at; English & Spanish.
I knew it'd be complicated as FUCK, there's a bunch of great casters in the USA and I was the outsider trying to make a name for himself in a highly competitive space.
The West Coast treated me well and thanks to a few individuals, I was capable of breaking through and put my name out there, both in México, and across the border.
México has always been there for the USA, we even make our Yearly Premier event (SFactor) primarily in English, but the same support has not yet been given in return.
Throughout my career and in hand with some of the best in the space, we've managed to bring Spanish Co-Streams for some of the biggest events;
-Genesis
-Port Priority
-BoBC
-SuperNova
-EVO
Although I'm eternally thankful for their trust in helping us achieve that, I've always believed more could be done, yet, the wall between us grew taller with every passing year.
Opportunities for some of the best bilingual casters in México are few and far between and I can count them with my fingers despite their talent.
I'm extremely lucky to have been able to travel to several countries for Smash, and my biggest motivation has always been to travel the world doing the two things I love the most; Commentary & Smash.
Most of my commentary goals are ticked off my list, but a few remain, I will still strive to complete them, with or without help, no one can stop me from achieving those, even if they try, because I'm a man of unwavering conviction.
What am I trying to get at with all of this? Well...
After careful consideration and lots of thought, I'm effectively stepping down from commentary in the USA, I won't apply, I won't reach out and I won't accept offers to travel to any of the mainland USA states for the foreseeable future.
I know some of you will be happy to hear this, some others not so much and most won't care, but this is a big deal for me, and saying it publicly ensures that I stick to my decision.
In the past few months, the USA has made it clear that SOME Mexicans aren't welcome, and although I know this isn't true for a small minority, it is true on a larger scale and the impact is noticeable, as such, I will not step in forcefully where I don't feel like I'm welcomed, at least not anymore.
I've made some good friends in the USA, people I've grown to admire, respect and love, those, I cherish and keep close to my heart, but I've also met people with heavy pride, jealousy and deep overzealousness to maintain what they have instead of sharing it so others can thrive too.
(The American Selfishness)
As someone who's close to both cultures, both the Mexican and American, I can recognize where we both can falter, and to me, the choice is obvious, I pick to work on the issues that plague the Mexican side and work to fix them, rather than try to fix the American one, given that they don't even consider me one of their own.
As such, my attention in terms of commentary, quality and progress will land on this side of the border and I hope you guys start working on yours, cause this divisiveness that you're pushing is just not it.
You'll still hear my English commentary here and there though, after all, I've worked hard to polish my skillset to provide excellence in both languages, it's just that it won't be for your events anymore, that way, you can keep your friends in positions of power, unchallenged as you have for years.
If you've helped, thank you.
If you've gotten in my way, thank you as well.
You both made me stronger and made me push further beyond than anywhere I've ever thought I would.
Thank you for everything <3
