The number of CFA volunteers has dropped again, there's 300 fewer operational vols than last year according to the annual report. But since 2012-13 there's been a drop of 10,000 operational volunteers in the CFA #springst

@rohan_connolly I agree Rohan, the games I have seen highlights of this year have looked great. But I am only getting to my first game of the year this weekend because the scheduling often makes it difficult.

@marnievinall The 5pm games on a Friday night are awful for most people to get to (do we know why that time was frequently scheduled?) and lots of games at fairly far-flung suburban or regional grounds also make it harder for many to get to

The AFLW will fall short of the crowd figure needed to trigger an extra round of games next season, with more than 104,000 people required to attend the final round to hit the mark – a figure that will be impossible to reach given venue capacities. theage.com.au/sport/afl/why-…

I've got one more story to come tomorrow morning reflecting back across this incredible #FIFAWWC and the #Matildas who have changed Australia. it's a story about a lot of things, but mostly about dreams. and it begins in a small pub in NSW. I hope you enjoy it.

@adamliaw Agree - I sat next to two two lovely young guys at the first match I went to who were so into the match. Second game had a father and adult son in front of us who were taking selfies together and having a ball. Game changer.

I'm a regular watcher (and attender) of women's sport events but always with family, and it dawns on me that this #FIFAWWC is the first time I've arranged with my male friends to get together specifically to watch women's sport and I reckon I'm not the only one. #Matildas

On the eve of the soccer World Cup the local association takes the girls competition usual field because the boys need it and shove the girls down to a field out the way without telling them. #nice
