Harriet Hoctor shows her special ballet skills in the 1937 movie Shall We Dance, the seventh film starring Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers together. The music used for this performance is called “Hoctor’s Ballet,” composed by George Gershwin. It was one of the last big orchestral works he finished before he died that same year. After she stopped performing, Hoctor opened a ballet school in Boston and taught there for many years.
