Is there a situation where the movie is better than the book?

@lhallwriter I did once, however the development of the character changed her so drastically that she no longer resembles me in the slightest — personality OR appearance.

Writers, have you ever based a character on yourself?

I randomly decided that I need to write a middle grade fantasy book, despite my inexperience with the genre. What are some good book recs? So far I have: 1. Howl’s Moving Castle 2. The first Harry Potter 3. The Hobbit (I know, I’m sorry I haven’t read it yet)

@kapowfit Actually one of my favorite things is when I see one of my plot notes come to life. A lot of times, while I’ll know the vague circumstances of the scene at the very beginning, things usually change along the way (like characters and setting). I can literally see notes transform😁

Karen Hough Writes 🤦‍♀️
THIS is why I'm a pantser: I have a great start to a story, and I have a good ending, but am (figuratively) dying trying to figure out how to get from A to B. If I'm pantsing, everything is a wonderful surprise. How do plotters do it?

Using AI to write eliminates the intimacy to the story. The understanding of characters is shallow. I couldn’t imagine not going through the plot with my characters, hand in hand, contemplating every action and every word they say. Those who use AI are “readers”, not writers.

So… I feel we all agree that we officially hate NanoWriMo??🤣 I only vaguely know about the stuff that happened last year but given what I just heard about their stance on AI? F*ck that shit. Zero redeeming qualities whatsoever. We need a new organization for writers🤷‍♀️.
