Speed absolutely has nothing to do with being fluent in math. Students should be taught number sense and not memorization to eliminate anxiety.

@missmjung @WrightMath314 @MrsGallardo1 @joboaler These are great ideas! I’ve used number talks and which one doesn’t belong with my students in the past and they really enjoyed it. I’d love to incorporate estimations so I’ll definitely look into it!

Some examples are number talks, “which one doesn’t belong?”, and estimations. This will become routine in the classroom.

@WrightMath314 @joboaler @MrsGallardo1 Q3: One of the main reasons why students have anxiety when it comes to math is due to timed tests. Students feel pressured and rushed which causes them to give up. Timed tests limits student to show their true abilities and knowledge.
