Most people are eating what they think is “healthy bread” whilst wondering why they feel bloated exhausted inflamed foggy and permanently hungry. Don’t even get me started on that garbage that sold in the supermarkets! Take a look at everyone shopping down the bread aisle… Yes there is a whole aisle designated to toxic garbage!
Modern ultra-processed grain products bear little resemblance to traditional ancient natural foods rich in fibre minerals healthy fats and plant compounds.
One of my favourites is simple linseed bread.
Linseed also known as flaxseed is rich in omega 3 fatty acids lignans fibre magnesium potassium and plant compounds that support digestive health bowel regularity hormone balance and metabolic health.
Unlike many processed breads this recipe is simple filling grain free and incredibly easy to make.
No industrial seed oils, gums, preservatives, mystery ingredients. Just real food!
Ingredients;
2 cups ground linseed (flaxseed)
2 cups water ( NOT TAP WARER 👀)
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon dried rosemary
1 teaspoon dried thyme
I like to add;
chopped walnuts
pumpkin seeds
chopped dried apricots
chopped sun-dried tomatoes
Instructions
Ingredients
2 cups ground linseed (flaxseed)
2 cups water
1 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon dried rosemary
1 teaspoon dried thyme
Optional additions:
chopped walnuts
pumpkin seeds
chopped dried apricots
chopped sun-dried tomatoes
Instructions;
Preheat oven and empty cast-iron bread tin/Dutch oven at 220°C for at least 20–30 minutes.
Mix…
2 cups ground linseed
2 cups water
sea salt
herbs
Allow mixture to stand 5–10 minutes until thickened.
Carefully remove the hot tin from the oven.
Lightly grease with olive oil or line with parchment.
Pour mixture into the hot tin immediately.
Bake for 15 minutes at 220°C
then reduce to 190°C for another 25–35 minutes.
Remove and cool fully before slicing.
The hot cast iron creates a much better exterior texture.
I like to add pumpkin seeds, walnuts, rosemary from my garden , garlic, chopped olives. I also do dried apricots and sour cherries 🍒
