EAST BRIDGEWATER VOLLEYBALL: CHAMPIONSHIP FINAL East Bridgewater 3 Bourne 1 November 15, 2025. East Bridgewater defeated Bourne 3-1 to become the Division 4 MIAA State Tournament Champions of 2025. Bourne won the first set 25-12. East Bridgewater then won the next 3 straight sets 25-21, 25-14 and 25-23. East Bridgewater can now say they are as well as sing the song "We Are The Champions"! The East Bridgewater Vikings State Championship victory was its first for the Volleyball program in school history. East Bridgewater’s Olivia McManus had another outstanding overall performance in the MIAA State Championship Tournament and this time coming through when the Championship itself was on the line. Olivia McManus delivered 11 kills including 1 that put the team in the lead 24-23 in the final fourth set and one that won the second set, defended back 3 blocks and served 3 aces including 2 in the final fourth set on back-to-back serves. Elizabeth Willis, just a freshman, played beyond her years with 8 kills and 1 big block that tied the game 22-22 in the final fourth set. Ayla Kingman had an excellent game setting up her teammates with a team leading 24 assists and served 3 aces including a big one in the final fourth set to help East Bridgewater take the lead 23-22. Miley Delcarmen was a force and a fierce factor with her play with 5 kills, 5 digs and 4 aces and was exceptional in the second set win in which she served the team in getting 12 points in a row that helped the team to take a 14-1 lead, which then went on to win that set. Jenna Oman had a great overall game with 5 kills, 6 digs, 1 block and was very effective serving. Bella Abrams was simply powerful and extremely important in the backcourt as she had 5 digs but one could say it seemed like she had double or triple that amount as every one of them was incredible and unbelievable in how she was able to return them at bullet speed. Bella Abrams also performed well serving, which included 4 aces. Grace Sweeney was crucial up front and a dynamic force as she led the team with 7 blocks. Riley Egan also saw minutes and played well as another factor that helped the team win the championship. Highlight Set: Fourth Set It appeared Bourne was on a mission and in good shape to tie the match 2-2 to send it to the final fifth set tie breaker as they dominated the beginning part of the set leading by as many as 8 when they lead 16-8. However, in epic form as a unit, East Bridgewater fought and competed like Vikings as they came back later in the set on a kill by Elizabeth Willis to make the score Bourne 21 East Bridgewater 20. Bourne won the next point on a kill by Lily Russell to put Bourne up 22-20. East Bridgewater then got a kill by Miley Delcarmen and a block by Elizabeth Willis to tie the game at 22 and then East Bridgewater took the lead for the first time in the set 23-22 on a serving ace by Ayla Kingman. Bourne scored the next point to tie the game 23-23 on a block by Lily Russell. East Bridgewater’s Olivia McManus then made a kill to put East Bridgewater back in the lead 24-23 and only 1 point away from winning the set and match. East Bridgewater won the next point on a play called out of bounds to win the set 25-23 and match as well as capture the crown as state champions. Bourne (20-4) had a spectacular season and after being crowned state champions in 2024 in Division 5 they moved up to Division 4 and made it to the championship finals game again. They are an impressive and well coached team that will continue to have a bright future in the coming seasons. Bourne’s super seniors Nola Timo, Sofia Halunen, Lily Russell, Michaela Muldoon, Avery Morrill and Madelyn Rossignol all played well and were an important factor that put Bourne Volleyball on the map as a highly successful program during the seasons they played for the team. Fan Factor: East Bridgewater brought an impressive amount of student body, fans and family to the game that constantly cheered with support and positive chants in being a huge factor in support and momentum. East Bridgewater High School’s volleyball team finished the 2025 season with a record of (24-1) which was the greatest number of wins in school history and helping it win the school’s first state championship. East Bridgewater defeated Nipmuc Regional in straight sets in the Final 4 of the Division 4 MIAA State Championship Tournament. East Bridgewater’s Olivia McManus had an outstanding overall performance for the Vikings as she landed 9 kills, made 7 digs, defended the net with 4 blocks and passed for 3 assists. Elizabeth Willis powered for 10 kills and made 4 blocks. Ayla Kingman had a great game setting up her Viking teammates with 31 assists. Bella Abrams had a strong game on the backcourt leading with 19 digs and served 3 aces. East Bridgewater also had shining performances from Jenna Oman who made 4 kills, 1 block and 4 digs. Miley Delcarmen soared high for 9 kills and served 3 aces. Grace Sweeney made 4 blocks. Olivia McManus and Jenna Oman were named players of the game by East Bridgewater. East Bridgewater winner of 15 games in row boasting the best record in their school history at (23-1) plays in the MIAA State Championship Finals Game against Bourne (20-3) who were state champions in 2024 in Division 5 and moved up to Division 4 in 2025 and proved to be just a strong to make in back to a championship game for the second year in a row. East Bridgewater had a match against Bourne on September 19, 2025, which was an epic battle that went 5 sets to determine the winner with East Bridgewater coming away with the victory.
