@JacquiOatley I tell mine every time England play that they don’t know they’re born. Watching England in the early 00’s would make them lose their minds.

Exactly this. Plus my kids have seen England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 women winning @WEURO *twice* and reaching the @FIFAWWC final in between. They think this is normal England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 behaviour 🙉
Ian Baker@ianbakersport

My son’s first 5 major tournaments England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 finished as follows: WC 2018 - Semi Final Euro 2020 - Final WC 2022 - Quarter Final Euro 2024 - Final WC 2026 - Semi Final* My first 5: Euro 1984 - DNQ WC 1986 - Quarter Final Euro 1988 - Group WC 1990 - Semi Final Euro 1992 - Group

@WSLAnalytics The Sunday noon KO times have all but taken our group of 14 Villa season ticket holders out. I think next season only 6 will renew, because so many of the kids are playing football themselves at that time. 2pm was generally no problem.

Inside the Stands: WSL Attendance Trends 2025–26 is out. The WSL drew 902,981 spectators this season – up 2.7% year on year. But the deeper story is more complicated: Arsenal alone accounted for 41.2% of total league attendance, and without Arsenal, the rest of the league actually fell again. There were still positive signs – no sub-1,000 attendances, more 10,000+ matches, and Everton’s stadium move made a major difference. But the big question remains: Is the WSL building a stronger attendance base – or becoming too dependent on Arsenal and big-stadium fixtures? Full deep dive below 👇 wslanalytics.com/p/inside-the-s… #WSL #WomensFootball #BarclaysWSL #AWFC #FootballData

@BiteYourBrum I think the Villa players/staff are officially on holiday after Sunday. Many only have a couple of days before reporting for World Cup duty.

Agree. WSL scheduling this season has been awful. Villa having to move the Arsenal game (probably the highest gate of the season) to a midweek at short notice for the second season in a row. In addition, the Sunday midday KO’s means many playing grassroots can’t make most games.

COMMENT: These 3-game international windows are killing momentum in domestic women's leagues around Europe. And the irony is, no European national teams are playing 3 times. The result is a wasted weekend this weekend and clubs going weeks without games... theguardian.com/football/2026/…

@SheffieldUnited⁩ ⁦@SheffUnitedWay⁩ one thing I’ve always loved about the lane is that we’ve kept this small clock throughout all the improvements, can anyone tell me how long we’ve had it? Curious!

Love to hear more #BarclaysWSL fans' thoughts on this Friday night slot. Upsides: no clash with the men's PL, (good stadium-availability) & it's not a school night. Big downside for away fans (like the loyal BHAFC fans here at GP) but that journey is hard for most kick-off slots?

TELLY GOLD: This epic scene from “When Saturday Comes” was filmed at Bramall Lane 31 years ago today. Can Jimmy Muir, the hard-drinking factory worker plucked from Sunday League, score the penalty that takes the Blades to Wembley…?

@Panchero Worst season since my daughter was born. She’s turning 15. She’s seen three promotions, two FA Cup semis, two FA Cup quarters, and only two lost play off finals. No idea how she’ll deal with this period of dross.

People talk about a bad second half, but we were really lucky to be leading at half-time. They were comfortably better over the 90 as we once again showed that we're a soft touch. Still think we easily stay up, but it's going to be a really tedious 5 months from here

I love how they see 25 years as a really small time frame. "We'll be back, we're just having a bad quarter of a century"
John Birch@JohnBreporter

@Jim1867 We've had the worst 25 years in our history - they should be over the hills and out of sight. Yet they're currently bottom 3 in 2nd tier with us. They are letting the biggest chance they will ever have to establish themselves as the 'big boys' slip away, and they know it
