@JaneCaro Charlie Cousins falling off the wheat silo was one of the defining moments of my early TV watching!

The ancestors of these “quotas for women in Parliament undermine democracy” Libs probably said the same thing about “votes for women” and the whole universal suffrage movement over a century ago. #insiders

“Cost overruns” in defence procurement are sometimes/often programs which were under budgeted originally just to get them past approval. #insiders

Is there anything more politically irrelevant in Aust right now than an interview with a Liberal shadow minister? #insiders

Watching the former? MP for the seat of Menzies, named for the founder of the Liberal Party, giving a not-a-concession speech, am reminded of Robert Menzies saying “I have failed” early in WW2 B4 he founded the Libs. Will the party of Menzies survive? #insiders #austvotes2025

Three wasted years for the LNP which was supposed to be an alternative government, a government in waiting, instead #AusVotes2025 recognised the LNP for what it actually is, a rabble. #ausvotes #auspol

WTF were the LNP Coalition doing for 3 years in opposition? Certainly not doing hard work developing coherent policies that would convince Australians that they’d be better off under #Dutton. Lazy buggers thought that all they needed to do was to ape Trump’s far right populism

Concession: #Dutton: “We’ve been defined by our opponents & that’s not who we are” Well, you didn’t have coherent policies, threatened the nation with nuclear reactors (even in your own seat FFS!) & you wonder why voters looked at you & didn’t see a prime minister? #AusVotes2025

Oh, it’s an outside broadcast on ABC #insiders so bring out the bar stools for the panel to perch on. Doesn’t the ABC own any outdoor chairs? Sick of watching & waiting for panel members to fall off a stool which looks far too small a seat for some panelists behinds.

The #insiders Vox pop shows how much we need civics education in Australia. @annajhenderson is right, the layers of government aren’t understood by many (most?) voters What’s a federal issue, state issue of local gov issue? Not helped by politicians eg #Dutton’s emphasis on crime

Dutton’s son & the “bank of mum&dad”; #Dutton on climate change; Dutton “misspeak” on Russians in Indonesia, all demonstrate that Dutton can think on his feet, it’s not that he’s inflexible, ‘tho he might be, he’s just not up to being a national leader, not PM material. #insiders

What does the #Dutton’s son not being able to save for a house at the age of 20 ( at TWENTY FFS!) & the “bank of mum and dad” chaos show? That Dutton can’t think on his feet, a major weakness in a leader. He’s a plodder, not a leader, definitely not PM material. #insiders

Having been in gov for 9 years, NINE years, how dare the LNP criticise the one term Labor gov for not being able to clean up the mess it inherited within only one term of 3 years. If our defence force is unprepared and stretched, whose fault is that Senator Paterson? #insiders

Seems that all Dutton’s LNP election policies are just to oppose Labor, not very enlightening for undecided voters. #insiders

Watching opposition leader Dutton live on ABC News. Did Dutton just make a direct link between immigration and Australians being “forced out of houses”? Disgraceful!

Now, after Angus Taylor wouldn’t give a $ figure for LNP power costs on #insiders, Dutton is also isn’t answering the question. Just giving a classic “Yes Minister” answer, ignoring the actual question, making a statement instead. So what’s wrong with the LNP’s costings?

Is there something wrong with the LNP’s costings of its nuclear power plan? Is that why Shadow Treasurer Angus Taylor wouldn’t give the actual $ number, but just kept repeating “44% less” on #insiders? Or had Taylor just forgotten the $ cost? Either way it was not a good look.

Shadow treasurer Angus Taylor criticising Labor Gov but rnot giving any actual details on LNP policy or costings with the usual excuse of you’ll get our policies before the election. Getting tired of the lack of detail, Angus, sounds like “just trust us”. But who would? #insiders
