@pwharris 32 x 12 is equal to 16 x 24 because if you halve one factor you can double the other. This means you can more easily compare 16x28 and 16x24 and see that 16x28 will be the larger product.

I listened to the Math is FigureOutAble podcast yesterday and I think @pwharris said she’d explain why she doesn’t talk about using 25 when doubling 27, but I don’t think I heard her come back to it. Did I miss something?

@adriamgoetz I love QM, but email has advantages too. The most important thing, if you’re going to do email, is that your instructions are extremely clear, consistent, and easy to find. So frustrating when directions on website, PM page, Twitter, etc aren’t consistent.
English

@adriamgoetz I’m guessing the “what book are you known for?” question is actually “have you repped any books that are popular, award-winning or highly-anticipated?”
English

@adriamgoetz I would love it if agents would wait 12-24 hours before rejecting. It’s stressful to craft a personalized email and get a form rejection in 10 min. But I understand that people read their inboxes in different ways and I’d rather be rejected in 5 min than wait more than 3 months
English

@adriamgoetz Honestly, I think the best thing agents can do is to make sure their form responses are neutral, authentic, and kind. When agents have forms that have weird advice, or statements like “I adore this premise” and then we find out they say that to everyone…..it sucks.
English

@adriamgoetz I had no idea agents expect authors to acknowledge a request on QM. 🤷♀️ I thought uploading the requested manuscript was the only expected response and that chit-chatting beyond that would be considered annoying/superfluous.

@Sarah_Nicolas @CaitlinRozakis @JrLibraryGuild @abmack33 I saw DREADFUL on a special display at B&N last week!

@HellBoundBooks @_rae_wilde This isn’t a transphobic character — this is a transphobic premise.
Someone who views trans individuals with compassion would not read this ad copy and think “yep, this is a great idea.”
The very nature of this premise is medically inaccurate and unnecessarily mean-spirited.
English

@_rae_wilde Thanks people can write gay comedy and not be homophobic. Can write racist characters and not be racist, etc. Think Family Guy humor. We have many authors that are a part of the LGBT community and we support their works.

an editor from Penguin is reading MY book rn & my first thought was to not shout about it anywhere because it may very well not go the way I want & superstition but...I think I'm going to celebrate the win regardless 🥺🫶 #amquerying

I am also immensely grateful for @ericsmithrocks, @annmrose, @pedrokat, @tnicolepayne, & especially the Books Like Us First Novel Contest team at @AtriaBooks. These are folks who gave me reasons to believe in myself and my story at times when I needed it the most.

I am thrilled to announce that I will be represented by @jlkardon of @HGLiterary!
I am confident in the vision that Julia has for me and my book and I’m honored and excited to work with her . . . (🧵)
