The commonwealth would be better with providing more mutual benefits, then the many African nations within it have a reason to work with us, rather than having to look towards China for investment. The USA as part of a new Commonwealth could help on this investment element.

The horrible attack on volunteer ambulances is part of a rising tide of hate against Jewish communities in Britain. As I write, more undocumented young men are crossing the Channel. Many will be from Iran — we have an open door to potential enemies.

What kind of maniacs attack a fleet of ambulances? The culprits must be caught and punished with exemplary severity - to show that antisemitism has no place in Britain.

Once again the panic mongers of the Greens and ill informed Labour backbenchers get it wrong. The decision to allow USA to hit anti-ship missile launchers was taken AFTER the attack on Diego Garcia. The fog of war rarely rewards point scoring at our country's expense 👇🏽

The Terrorist Regime has committed countless violations of international law in striking at civilians in the Gulf countries and commercial shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. Attacking a base being used purely to intercept and destroy their missiles capacity is reckless and illegal

The Islamist Regime in Tehran attempted to strike the UK-U.S military base on Diego Garcia in the Chagos Archipelago.

It is also entirely within international law which Starmer loves so damn much. Iran is illegally striking civilians and commercial shipping, the UK is allowing it's bases to be used for the specific purpose of diminishing the capacity of a terrorist state to kill civilians.

This isn't a U-Turn. The US was already being allowed to strike at Iranian missile sites in Iran which were striking civilian structures and allies territory across the Gulf illegally and like the Terrorists they are. This expansion is purely defensive for commercial shipping.

Ludicrous for Iran to claim its 'right to defend against UK aggression.' Iran has spent years interfering in the UK, attacking our shipping directly and and sponsoring terrorists to do the same. Tehran does not get to play the victim now.

@meralhece Parliament doesn't need to agree to the UK enforcing international law, defending civilians and commercial shipping across the Gulf and Strait of Hormuz. We are acting to defend our partners and allies civilians from unjustifiable and illegal strikes from terrorists.

@Telegraph If Iran wishes to continue striking at and killing civilians across the Gulf and Strait of Hormuz, it is only right the UK support new decisive action to demilitarise this terrorist regime. If they strike one more British base, one more civilian structure, we must join.

@PolitlcsGlobal Iran needs to be punished for their escalatory and unjustifiable attacks on civilians across the Gulf and Strait of Hormuz. They have taken this too far. If they only struck US-Israeli military assets it would be fine, but they are trying to pull the UK in.

The UK is trying hard to support defensive actions, but this escalatory Terrorist regime striking at civilians and British territory now along with commercial shipping, is unjustifiable and risks pulling the UK and allies deeper into conflict. Iran is playing a dangerous game.
