Took me around 15 games to reach Master Ball tier 👇 The core lead is Sableye + Espathra. The objective is to generate a safe setup window for Espathra through Sableye’s utility: - Reflect / Light Screen - Encore - Disable This allows Espathra to stack 1-2 Calm Minds while accumulating Speed Boost turns, then Baton Pass the boosts into Floette or Archaludon depending on the matchup. Sableye’s Encore + Disable interaction is the key mechanic of the team. You can lock opponents into Fake Out, Protect, setup moves or other low-pressure options, then Disable them immediately after. In many situations this forces a switch or creates a completely passive turn cycle for the opponent. Archaludon becomes extremely difficult to remove after receiving: - +2 Speed - +1/+2 Sp. Atk - potential Stamina Defense boosts Politoed is another important win condition due to Psych Up. Most opponents do not respect this option, allowing Politoed to copy the entire Baton Pass setup and instantly become a secondary sweeper. After copying boosts: - Ice Beam pressures Garchomp, Venusaur and other common threats - Muddy Water becomes a strong spread win condition with snowball potential Sinistcha provides important matchup coverage into gimmick compositions like Mega Hawlucha + Snorlax using Entrainment + Fissure. Rage Powder redirects the setup safely and stabilizes the position. It also synergizes well defensively with Floette in the back. Additional matchup notes: - Espathra can OHKO Sneasler turn 1 with Lumina Crash - Many opponents avoid clicking Fake Out into Sableye due to Encore pressure Into Whimsicott leads: - Turn 1: Calm Mind with Espathra - Turn 2: Protect Espathra + Disable Encore with Sableye This sequence neutralizes Whimsicott’s disruption while preserving setup tempo. VGC guys as someone who's new to playing doubles - how do you actually beat this shit? I brought Gambit thinking that'd be a check, but they Gravity + Focus Blast then just helping hand + Expanding Force nukes my shit, what's the counterplay with a standard structure (no TR)
