This term, we launched our Equalities & Inclusion Charter, which provides a shared language for how we treat one another. It sits alongside our 5Cs: Care, Confidence, Character, Challenge & Creativity. More to come as we embed this exciting new part of Elmhurst school life. 🌟

Last week, Mr Ben took a group of Y5&6 children to compete in an athletics competition at Langdon High School. Mr Ben has really trained them well in this event - Elmhurst finished fifth out of nine schools so a very respectable mid table result.  Well done to everyone involved!

Year 4 had an amazing day at the Science Museum. From the fascinating ‘It Takes Guts’ digestion show, to hands-on experiments in the Wonderlab, they explored everything from sound to space, electricity, light and more. So lovely to see our children have fun whilst learning!

From creating sparks to gathering sticks and stones for building shelters, Year 3 fully embraced Stone Age survival during their Stone Age Workshop at West Ham Park this week. Their teamwork (and huts!) were seriously impressive. 🪵

A huge thank you to the brilliant Anthony Glenn for an amazing one-man performance of Macbeth yesterday. The children were hooked from start to finish and loved getting involved. The show is always a highlight of the year! 🎭

This term, Year 1 have been learning all about Sikhism. To showcase their learning, they performed a wonderful assembly on Guru Nanak’s birthday. They spoke clearly, sang with enthusiasm and impressed with their confidence and knowledge. Well done, Year 1!

Today, Year 5 took their skyline art to new heights at the ArcelorMittal Orbit. The rain did not stop them as they boldly sketched London from above. Inspired by André Derain and John Virtue, they are now ready to plan their final compositions. ✍️✨

I has been a wriggly, giggly Science afternoon for Year 2! 🪱 Our pupils watched worms up close to learn how they move and feel, confidently using keywords such as “segments” and “bristles” as they explored. They are now very excited to have their own class wormeries!

We are so proud of our Year 6 debaters who represented us brilliantly with @debate_mate today! They argued the motion “This House Would Ban Short Form Media” with confidence and skill.

A huge thank you to @faithinschools for delivering such an inspiring session for our Year 2 children on the story of ‘The Good Samaritan’ from the Bible. The session linked wonderfully to their RE unit on Telling Stories and explored themes of kindness and compassion.

Yesterday, Year 6 visited the London Docklands Museum as part of their History unit on the Transatlantic Slave Trade. During this powerful and reflective visit, pupils learnt about the lives and experiences of enslaved people and discovered key figures who fought for abolition.

What a fantastic start to the new term. Our Debate Club enjoyed a wonderful display debate at the @debate_mate launch event, and we’re so proud that one of our students even joined in. We look forward to an inspiring year of debates ahead - bring it on!

Elmhurst’s Shakespeare cast had an amazing time at Shakespeare’s Globe watching Twelfth Night. The performance sparked so many new ideas for their own show in March - bring on the rehearsals. 🎭

Year 6 enjoyed an inspiring Leaders Panel today as part of their ‘Leaders’ unit in RE. They were joined by leaders in Christianity, Buddhism, Humanism & non-religious life, who shared some valuable insight into their roles and beliefs. The key takeaway? Be kind to everyone! 🌍✨
