Google and SpaceX are in talks to put data centers in orbit.
The world’s most powerful search and AI company is reportedly in talks with SpaceX to launch data centers into orbit — joining Anthropic, which already signed an agreement for Colossus access and orbital compute partnership.
Let that sink in.
Two of the biggest AI companies on the planet — one of them SpaceX’s most direct competitor through Gemini — are now turning to SpaceX to solve the same problem.
AI compute demand is breaking terrestrial infrastructure. Power. Land. Cooling. All hitting limits simultaneously. Space offers near-limitless sustainable energy, no land constraints, and global coverage from a single orbital plane.
SpaceX is the only organization that can actually build this.
One launch every two days. 10,200 satellites already in orbit. $119 billion Terafab breaking ground. 80% of compute going to space. Elon’s pay tied to building civilization-scale infrastructure.
This wasn’t a pivot. This was always the plan.
Connectivity company. Compute company. Model company. Mars company.
Now add one more layer:
The company that owns the internet backbone of Earth is becoming the data center of the solar system.
Google just confirmed it.
