@bellingcat Using StreetView and map measurements of the horizontal distances, I was able to find that building B inter-floor distance is 3.5m, resulting in missile length of 7.1m. Maybe Bellingcat can improve my calculations.

Latest: An analysis of open source evidence, as well as multiple missile experts, have pointed to a Russian launched Kh-101 cruise missile being the weapon that struck a children’s hospital in Kyiv bellingcat.com/news/2024/07/0…

@bellingcat Even without precise geolocation (I'm not good at it) you can see the missile behind the high-rise building, with its apparent length of 1.5 story (> 4 m). As actually it is farther, it is longer.

@FRHoffmann1 Kh-101 is 7.45m long, AIM-120 - 3.65m (TWICE shorter). Video has enough details to determine the length of the missile

To emphasize the absurdity of this argument: An AIM-120 and similar interceptor missiles will self-destruct mid-air if they miss their targets or lose radar lock. The likelihood of an AIM-120 missing its target, failing to self-destruct, and then landing precisely on a children's hospital is so minuscule that it isn't worth considering.

@NimaHoushidari @MyLordBebo Russians hit the Russian beach, not Ukrainians: The Russian MoD stated (t.me/mod_russia/402…) ...“missile, as a result of the impact of air defense systems in the final section, deviated from the flight path with detonation combat unit in the air over the city territory.”

🇷🇺🇺🇦‼️🚨 Which video is the crystal clear Kh-101 photo from? It can’t be from the video everyone shares, since the missile is covered with the channel tag. Anybody has seen the original video without “Kiev Today” tag? Or is the photo fake?

@phsilva When compressing color images, de-mosaic is the most damaging part, not the quantization. Compressing raw Bayer as if it was monochrome produces highest frequencies for uniform tone - that was a rationale for the JP4 that reused JPEG FPGA code.

JPEG, still alien tech, in very fine details. I learned most of this while working with @ElphelCamera on their JP4 codec, which use same structure of JPEG but rearranges blocks in compression-friendly format (not JPEG compliant so you need special software to read).

@corkmork Looking at "6 more rows" on that Microsoft site, you can find out that GPL is used in 24.19% cases.

On Open Source patent grants. I disagree with ASF and GNU advice against using licenses without explicit patent grants: CC0, MIT and BSD. Why? Implied is better than wrong. MIT is most popular license on GitHub (44.7%). Microsoft uses MIT. Consider if patents are involved?

@math_rachel @cto_movidius Without learning and knowing math you will never know what is relevant, and what is not. If you learnt something and forgot - it will be easy to recognize it later, and re-learn on "as-needed" basis.

3 reasons I recommend learning math on an as-needed basis (as opposed to trying to complete a bunch of math pre-reqs before you start on the thing you care about): fast.ai/2017/03/23/foc…

@ico_TC Would you trust proprietary with secret code? Even Prius was killing passengers with a self-accelerating bug, Tesla loves fire trucks from behind.

@resurgent @td_hopkins @MarcGiller From my childhood I heard scary predictions about Nuclear Winter and that there will be no human survivors in WW3, but there were not enough experiments conducted, it is just a stupid consensus. Try that out?
