A hugely underrated aspect of the Dune universe's appeal is how Frank Herbert built a world where people zip around the galaxy in spaceships but then fight each other with swords and knives. It makes everything 50 percent cooler than a world of ray guns and robots.

Men want a Gwen Stacy that doesn’t exist. A Gwen Stacy made into a love martyr after she died. Peter and MJ became timeless because they are real to each other and support each other no matter the strains. This is why modern writers and certain audiences don’t get them.
