I have a water bottle covered in cats, and a cat calendar in my office. A direct consequence of this is students ask if I like cats + then show me pictures of their pets.
10/10 way to improve your day, highly recommend.

‘Oh but not students with supports’ isn’t good enough, it is othering students and such rules are one of the main reasons that students do not retain essential assistive technologies. (3/3)

Many use Assistive Technologies I have HoH students who use live captions because they don’t want to use an FM system and to disclose their disability, I have students who cannot read their own handwriting as they have coordination difficulties and need to type. (2/3)

I was once told my tattoos were unprofessional. Students ask me fairly frequently about them; they also turn up for their AT training, ask their support questions, and discuss their concerns. Education is made up of human beings, it’s not unprofessional to be an actual person.

Optician managed to snap my only pair of glasses over the weekend so everything is being enlarged. Suffice to say I have even less tolerance for inaccessible documents than normal this week.

I can't drink without plastic straws. For years I've bought clear ones online (look a bit nicer than kids' ones). Since the straw ban they've got more expensive and now they've disappeared If your environmentalism only affects disabled people, it's not as progressive as you think

We need to stop viewing VLE’s as a repository for course materials. The digital sphere is an extension of our classroom.
Neglecting digital accessibility in module design is the equivalent of standing at the classroom door telling certain students they can’t come in.

1. Burnt the collar of one shirt I wanted to wear.
2. Spilt coffee down the shirt I eventually decided to wear.

Great to see 18 UCD Staff from across our campus become fully ASIST Trained in Suicide Intervention. Another piece of the puzzle to protecting our UCD Community and communities beyond. It was amazing to join together with a group of people committed to supporting mental health.
