Our daughter, Rachel Corrie, was killed in 2003 in Gaza, while trying to protect a Palestinian home facing illegal destruction by the Israeli military. She was 23 years old. The massive, armored Caterpillar D-9 bulldozer that crushed her was operated by two Israeli soldiers and manufactured in the United States. It was the same type of militarized bulldozer that US presidents from George W. Bush through to Donald Trump have delivered to Israel. Today, as the destruction of Palestinian homes has only become more commonplace, not to mention the horror of Israel’s genocide, Senator Bernie Sanders will force a vote in the Senate to try to end this cycle of death by banning the transfer of D-9 bulldozers to Israel. We hope he will not take this stand alone. No policy can bring back those taken from us by these actions—children and other loved ones. But the Senate now has an opportunity to honor the memories of our daughter, other Americans, and thousands of Palestinian civilians killed, and to show that their deaths, and all the destruction, will no longer be condoned and funded. We hope those elected to represent us, the American people, understand the message that voting to block these D-9 bulldozers will send. We are outraged to learn that Canada has denied entry to officials from the Palestine Football Association ahead of FIFA pre-World Cup meetings in Vancouver. Vigil for Canadian Killed by Israeli Strike in Lebanon Hassan Haider is the first Canadian killed by Israeli strikes in the latest bombing of Lebanon.  He was killed while trying to rescue the wounded. He leaves behind five children. Guess what our Canadian government did/said about Israel killing our soldier then (2006)? Nothing, zilch, nada, not even an empty condemnation of Israel's crime against a highly decorated 🇨🇦 infantry officer. The Israel exception.

Tom Hurndall was murdered on 11th April 2003. He was carrying Palestinian children (who were frozen from fear) to safety from gunfire. He successfully rescued one but was shot when he went back for the others. He was 21.

Rest in peace Jacob Flickinger. Two years after 7 aid workers (including Jacob, a Canadian) were targeted and killed in a World Central Kitchen marked van, Canada and the US are still arming their killers. Israel has killed over 560 aid workers and approximately 1,800 health workers in the last 2.5 years. Just yesterday @MarkJCarney said he would not consider sanctions on Israel. Truly horrifying.

I didn’t expect to cry. But I did. I haven’t reacted to a film like that in a very long time. I saw The Voice of Hind Rajab. It is not just a film—it is a reckoning. War is often reduced to abstractions—strategy, geopolitics, “proportionality.” This strips all of that away and forces you to confront what is too often hidden: the terrified voice of a child. It doesn’t argue. It doesn’t analyze. It bears witness. And once you hear that voice, you cannot unhear it. And you shouldn’t.
