The key is that the loans are designed to be fair and tied to actual production, so farmers can invest, grow more, and repay from their harvest without falling into debt traps.

@AgroConsortium, a government-backed initiative, is helping make insurance accessible to smallholders in Uganda. Farmers pay for the crop insurance using a small portion of their loans from @Emata_UG. They repay their Emata loan by selling coffee to Agri Evolve.

232 Rwenzori coffee farmers are receiving insurance payouts this week. Weather turned bad. Insurance paid smallholders. A simple, yet unusual story. The announcement was made at the AgriEvolve factory, where 50 farmers shared their experience with @Emata_UG & @AgroConsortium ⬇️
