@Gapeagle @scarlettspder2 I mean I’d agree the movie isnt as good as peak show, that was the best stuff to come from SW post OT. But the movie isn’t even trying to be like the 1st season. It’s really just trying to be a family adventure. Its just a fun 2 hours with the kids

@EmbiidTweet @scarlettspder2 You are correct. Ambition doesnt equate to quality. Andor and Mando are two different stories. However, Mandalorian fails at even that. Compare the first episode to later seasons and you can see what I mean. Focus has been lost.

I’ve been ruminating on #TheMandalorianAndGrogu for almost two days now. I watched it with a group of five friends, and I was literally the only one who had seen all three seasons of #TheMandalorian and The Book of Boba Fett. Grogu is a star. All they really knew going in was Baby Yoda, and by the end, every single one of them loved him. Mando himself felt like the badass bounty hunter from the first season again, and the IMAX theater was packed with kids, women rocking budget Leia cosplay, and some people wearing Mandalorian masks. I liked the film. It was pretty good, and honestly, exactly what I expected: a fun Mandalorian and Grogu romp. What surprised me was how much my friends, people who hadn’t even watched the full series, absolutely LOVED it. I couldn’t shake the feeling that they were having even more fun than I was. And I think that’s the point. This isn’t a traditional Star Wars film. I love the deep dive analysis from people like @jowrotethis and @MalloryRubin on House of R, but this movie wasn’t made with them, or even people like me, primarily in mind. I genuinely think @swankmotron’s kid might’ve cracked the code: This isn’t a Star Wars movie for jaded Star Wars fans. It’s not for people endlessly caught up in debates over what Star Wars is, was, or should be. It is a Star Wars film. But more than anything, it’s an accessible, all ages father and son adventure. It’s not obsessed with lore discourse, fandom wars, or let alone box office arguments. It simply exists as a fun little romp. And maybe, just maybe… This is the way. I see mutuals angry at this film, and while I understand some of the criticism, getting mad at it almost feels like getting mad at a puppy. Whatever the Star Wars fandom, or fandom culture in general, has become, I don’t think that’s the way forward. So here’s to the next generation.

@foxgirlcafe Not speaking on other shows, but The Boys leaned into the fact that Homelander was the biggest attraction on the show. Obviously there would be some that want him to win

I'm confused because the VFX work in that scene was actually really good. There are definitely problems with this film, but this really wasn't one of them

Definitely enjoyed #TheMandalorianAndGrogu more the second time around! I still have my little gripes/nitpicks but there were lotsa families in our theater and the kids were eating it up. One moment even got a big cheer! Way more fun than the press screening audience, and a good reminder of who this is for in the first place. It’s hard not to smile every time Baby Yo and the Anzellans are on screen.

@1610SPlDEY tbf when the sequence started I thought man this could’ve been a great episode of the show. but then it goes on for 25 more minutes so we kinda do get it

There’s a timeline where Grogu on his own trying to save Mando is a top tier episode of the show instead of a sequence in the movie that severely hurts its pacing and it’s a bummer we’re not living in it.

Second straight weekend I feel like everyone else saw a different movie than I did. #TheMandalorianAndGrogu is the most fun I've had with a Star Wars movie since 'Force Awakens'. IDK if it's because I've never seen the show, but I was blown away by the dynamic between Mando and Grogu, and this was chock-full of the kind of creatures and critters that I love seeing onscreen. This actually felt like a proper 'Star Wars' adventure movie and gave me vibes of the kind of eighties sci-fi movies I liked watching growing up. Just a really fun time at the movies.
