International Day of Zero Waste♻️ By reducing waste, planning meals responsibly, and utilise surplus thoughtfully, we can contribute to environmental sustainability, support our communities, and foster a more responsible relationship with the planet.

EMC Encounter: Iguanas 🦎 During one of our outdoor learning sessions, team members demonstrated iguana burrowing behaviour by carefully uncovering an iguana from its nest. Iguanas dig burrows to lay, providing a safe space for eggs incubation and protection from predators.

🚨 Breaking News from Saxacalli Rainforest Centre A boa constrictor was reported to have attacked some waiso nestlings, leaving two fatalities. The snake has since slithered away from the scene. Investigations are ongoing as we continue to uncover what really happened.

International Day of Forests 2026 🌳 This year’s theme, “Forests and Economies,” highlights the vital role forests play in driving sustainable economic growth, supporting livelihoods, and creating employment opportunities.

EMC Encounter: Iguana 🦎 EMC team members Shannon, Tishawana and Deopaul, while on deployment, had a friendly encounter with some iguanas in the mangrove ecosystem. Iguanas are excellent climbers and are often found basking in the sun along branches.

EMC Field Moments 🌿🦀 While on field deployment, the EMC team spent time exploring the rich mangrove ecosystem, an environment teeming with life and learning opportunities. During the visit, the team also learned traditional techniques for catching bunduri and buk crabs.
