The state government hereby sound a strong warning to whoever is in possession of Government properties to return such to the Office of the Secretary to the State Government, on or before 4pm on Tuesday, June 6th, 2023, and obtain necessary acknowledgement from the SSG's Office.

Abia State Government has observed in disbelief that some Government officials, including appointees of the past administration, are still holding on to Government properties, such as vehicles, generators, laptops and other assets.

In a similar development, the governor has approved the removal of the Education Secretaries of the 17 Local Governments. Each affected Education Secretary is to hand over to the most Senior Director. These directives take immediate effect.

The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti has approved the dissolution of the 17 Local Government Transition Committees and removal of all Chairmen and their Deputies. The removed Chairmen are to hand over to the Heads of Service of their respective Local Governments.

Abia State Deputy Governor, His Excellency Engr Ikechukwu Emetu was on ground to enforce the ban on collection of transportation levies on commercial buses and tricycles (keke) in the state.
