@SimonHarrisTD Simon, I’m an intern nurse working in one of Dublin’s busiest hospitals. I take a full patient load- the only thing I don’t do is medications. I’m fully behind paying student nurses but where does this leave us? How are we going to end up earning less than them?

@SimonHarrisTD as a nursing intern who has almost completed 4 years of placement, will we be paid less or the same as those who have only completed 5weeks? While we are expected to work with COVID positives and they are not @INMO_IRL

@SimonHarrisTD in Vincent’s, only 4th year students are allowed on Covid wards so how is it fair that students years below us get paid more when they’re not even working on Covid wards?

@INMO_IRL I’m fully behind paying student nurses BUT as a Nursing Intern months away from being qualified & working at almost the same level as a staff nurse with 4 years experience it is insulting to have us contracted €21,216 annually and propose €28,000 for students?

WIN: Govt confirm that student nurses will be paid throughout the COVID-19 crisis. Our understanding is they'll be paid as healthcare assistants for any work done. More details as we get them. Many thanks to our many union activists and student members who fought for this.
