@taylorswift13 did you see that you helped us raise over $93,000 by raffling a pair of floor seats! We had a generous donor gift us the tickets and each $45 raffle chance provided 1 adult facing homelessness 1 night of emergency shelter! We are a private org & every $ helps!

@kyletalking We see this everyday. The 55 & up age bracket is bursting with seniors that have unmet medical needs, loss of mobility & so on. These folks are not addicts, just not able to find/keep income based housing.

But the scary part is that the unsheltered population is going to keep growing for many reasons. One factor: aging baby boomers who max out their life savings and can no longer afford to live on their own or in care. This anecdote I found chilling: (5/5)

@naehomelessness And when will we properly fund crisis triage drop in shelters? Street outreach & rural homelessness funding is good as is the goal of more housing... but what happens to people when we can't offer any bed. Oh yea..we criminalize.

Careful stewardship of homeless assistance grants is a must, but too often these dollars don’t go far enough because of stringent rules, inflexibility & excessive requirements. We need to trust organizations on the front lines of homelessness to serve the people they’re helping.
