Yesterday I learned that the program I’ve been doing a SubI at doesn’t consider DOs for interviews. Today the M2s on the service thanked me for teaching them, answering all their questions, and always being approachable. They reminded me what it’s all about. Thankful 🫶🏼

@L_gorenshtein This not acceptable anymore. MD or DO…all are ACGME. Please submit this quietly to the AOA, as they can take it further than you. A student of mine had a similar situation when they didn’t get an interview at the end of the rotation (despite LoRs/evals from faculty being great).

@L_gorenshtein Might want to bring this program to the @AOAforDOs 's attention. Especially post-merger, candidates should not be rejected for being a DO and I think may be against current @acgme non-discrimination policy to have that be an actual rule in a program.

@RuthM_DO @L_gorenshtein I suspect your comments are coming from a place of frustration. What basis do you have for your $$ comment? One of the primary goals of the SAS was to expand DO training opportunities. Reports to @Emergidoc and @AOAforDOs will result in action, but can't guarantee the outcome

@L_gorenshtein I'd like to think reporting to the AOA would make a difference, but ultimately the merger was for monetary gain. Keep working hard. You'll recognize that your work ethic will get your far throughout all stages of training. Keep it up.
