@nickreese @derekhalpern I always exclude core and assisted conversions from early campaigns from brand searches. But if we do massive social pushes we do monitor the brand lift on search. This is a great way to see how social impacts discovery/review

Unpopular opinion: how much money should a brand spend on branded search and other branded keywords? Agencies will tell you “you need to do brand defense.” Wrong. The answer is 0. The roas numbers for branded terms is almost always fake.

@derekhalpern I encourage bidding on brand to train bidding and targeting models. It’s cheaper to train and audience sculpt through brand than intent. I remove branded from reporting but always spend 3-5% of my budget on it. It also allows me to see the comp drafting on me.

@JustinFerriman I love Fathom! But for heavy advertising brands not having Ga4 or universal when it was around, truly would reduce google ads campaign performance. So much so, it was a massive risk not to deploy.
