@exitthelemming @dobspoon Prunella Scales's brilliant narration of 'Which Witch' by Eva Ibbotson remains one of my absolute favourite audiobooks. Lines from that recording (quoted in her voice) still form part of the everyday language my sister and I (now very much grownups!) share.

D1 wants her next book to be about a strong girl who has an adventure with an animal companion and maybe a boy, and there’s magic.
Sounds like His Dark Materials, really, but D1 is eight, so those are a couple of years away. Anyone got any other suggestions for a strong reader?
