Thomas Tuchel went for the same strategy as vs Mexico without, it seems, appreciating Argentina have the attacking ability to unpick a low block over 30mins. That is a pitiful way to exit the World Cup at this stage.

Never expected a coach as supposedly sophisticated as Tuchel to be reduced to such agricultural tactics at that level. Charles Hughes stuff. England had a deep enough talent pool to see the game out productively but their approach after scoring was backwards.

🚨Defending and parking the bus from the 60th minute was never going to work. Declan Rice has had an awful tournament and clearly hasn’t looked 100% fit all tournament, and yet somehow Kobbie Mainoo still finishes this World Cup with ZERO minutes.
