Today marks my journey as a Ward Sister for 1 year. I am so incredibly lucky to be part of such a fabulous team... and no celebration would be right on Wordsworth without cake!

@AddyMcleod @BrianwDolan And not just cheaper as there is evidence that people with frailty are often unable to regain their muscle strength

Have any other teams in the SW pulled together a ‘training directory’ for OTs (primarily in the acute setting) to support career progression/ training and development/ appraisal discussions? Are you interested in sharing or collaborating 🙏 @nicolameadOT @RDE_PTandOT

@HayleyFroggatt Would be great to have retention strategies as a topic for one of the acute meetings 👍

@EmmaMag66868469 See comments below (or above?!) But happy to discuss in more detail via teams if you wanted to. Or perhaps it can be a topic in one of our acute OT meetings!

So proud of the my OTs, we have all worked so hard to get core learning compliance up to 97% and vacancy rate down to 7%. Lots of work being done to support recruitment and retention and it seems to be working. Let's hope we can keep it low!!

@hayleypeters @SomersetFT Absolutely, it is the collection of these individual actions and dedication that will enable us to put occupation back at the centre of our practice for the benefit of our patients and the organisation #OTSuperPower 💪

I don’t often post but felt inspired on Friday. I overheard a team leader explaining to her team how to use occupation to support recovery in more dependent patients. I then worked with an OT on ward, hearing how she is arranging training for nurses about OT #OccupationalTherapy

Great opportunity to ensure best use of OT skills in an acute setting. Influence and engage with OTs across our organisation in all areas; physical health, mental health and LD. The opportunity to influence pathway transformation & enhance the lives of the population in Somerset

If you'd like to make a real impact on our services across the county of Somerset and play an integral part of an organisation providing joined up community, mental health and acute hospital care, then we want to hear from you! buff.ly/3mtMoBm #occupationaltherapist #NHS

3 solutions to the emergency care crisis from BGS President @adamgordon1978: 1. Shift in attitudes - half of patients have frailty. 2. Front door frailty. 3. Investment in rehabilitation. Until we fix rehab, the revolving door will continue. @RCollEM

A powerful new visual of the famous Desmond Tutu quote, created by @Juliet_Young1: ‘We need to stop just pulling people out of the river. Some of us need to go upstream and find out why they are falling in’.

Yesterday I had my exam results. The exam was in research, a subject that I don't feel confident in at all. When I saw 85% the tears came on hard and fast. So proud of myself #futureOT

Why do I worry that something bad will happen to you? Talking through grief, reaction to trauma,& coping with anxiety with my small one. Working through the reality of life. It is so important to help our children become equipped with skills to cope with life's ups & downs #hope

@theRCOT It’s good to feel valued by @SomersetFT but our role is often misunderstood by other disciplines
