The mental energy players spend thinking and fixating on their skort constantly during a match is honestly tolling. A piece of outdated clothing like this shouldn’t let be a distraction when we’re trying to perform at the highest level we can.

Today, the Kilkenny and Dublin camogie players wore shorts in protest. This isn’t about fashion. It’s not about tradition. It’s about athletes being forced to sacrifice comfort, performance and even dignity, for an outdated rule written without them in mind.

🗣 “I wanted to get it out to those younger girls... to show the reality of it and share my experience. If one woman can take something from it, that’s what matters.” After a series of health setbacks in 2023 forced her to the sidelines, Dublin's Emma O'Byrne is sharing her story to break the silence around female health in elite sports. From navigating body image and "imposter syndrome" to learning how to fuel her body for performance rather than an aesthetic, her journey is a masterclass in resilience. 🌱 Now back at the heart of the Dublin defense, Emma is proving that managing your health isn't a distraction from the game, it’s the key to staying in it. You can read Emma's story on our website: camogie.ie/news/not-all-h… #GetBehindCamogie

It’s hard enough dealing with the pressures of being a girl in today’s world of social media and issues with body image too. Having to worry about the way you look whilst playing the sport you love is madness. We want to grow the game and keep young girls wanting to continue to play.

"Until we get something firm in writing from camogie and the LGFA, you're still a little bit skeptical." ✍ Aisling Maher of St Vincent's and Dublin spoke about changes that need to be made within women's Gaelic games. 🏐 @AIB_GAA | #TheToughest

"Female players have to be open to scrutiny and negative comments." @20x20_ie targeted 20% more female sports coverage by this year. @StephanieRoche9 has benefitted from the media. She's also seen the bad side of it. She welcomes both 👊 #ShowYourStripes #CantSeeCantBe
