“We have the public watching us. We absolutely have to get [the assisted dying] Bill through.” Even Baroness Butler-Sloss, who remains personally opposed to assisted dying, is unequivocal: Lords must stop bad-faith tactics attempting to block the Bill, and get it to Third Reading.

I am beyond angry that women with Stage 4 secondary breast cancer are being left to die before their time in this country, while the rest of the world moves forward with life extending treatments. Women like me are dying because proven cancer drugs are being denied on cost grounds. Friends are gone who should still be here with their families and children. So many of the amazing women featured here, many of them my friends, have now tragically died. Despite a median life expectancy of just 3–5 years, secondary breast cancer was reclassified by @NICEComms from “severe” to “moderate severe”, reducing access to funding for the latest life-extending treatments and diverting it elsewhere. Secondary/metastasic breast cancer is one of the biggest killers of women between 35-64, yet patients are denied drugs that are routinely available in other countries. This is a political choice and women are paying with their lives. #Enhertu is approved in the US, EU, Japan, China, Canada and Israel, and is available in Scotland. Yet women in England, Wales and Northern Ireland are deemed “not cost effective”. Why can all these countries provide this treatment while we cannot? Why are women with secondary breast cancer treated as expendable? @Keir_Starmer @wesstreeting @BBCWomansHour @AshleyDalton_MP @UN_Women @UKLabour @NHSuk @METUPUKorg @BreastCancerNow

Hi @thelizcarr I respect your advocacy for disabled people, but being disabled and being terminally ill are not the same. Disabled people can live long, full lives. Terminal illness means a progressing, incurable disease that will end your life no matter what support you have. We know what lies ahead and how cruel it can be. That line isn’t “blurred” for those of us living with it, it’s our daily reality. Disabled people deserve every protection, as do terminally ill people, including the right to have compassionate options at the very end of life. Safeguards for assisted dying can be based on clear, medical criteria for terminal illness only. It is based on prognosis, not by disability. Mixing disability and terminal illness together just creates fear, not clarity.

“I can’t imagine a committee hearing for any other bill not having representatives from… the people this bill will actually impact.” Sophie, a mum with incurable cancer, is disappointed the Lords Committee on assisted dying didn’t hear from terminally ill people. Peers must hear from people like her

For many, simply knowing the option exists brings comfort and peace of mind. Assisted dying is about restoring control at the hardest moment, not taking it away. #YestoDignity

Your support enables us to do what we do for our vulnerable community with pet dogs! We use your kind donations for the core reason of the charity, the care of the dogs and their owners. We have a sanctuary to maintain with high overheads, vet meds to buy and vet bills to pay. There is NO directors paid, No paid admin/fundraising team, even the vet team volunteer their time as do our frontline team. A one off donation or monthly direct debit helps us immensely to help all our clients and their dogs. We do not receive any funding from services who use our charity nor the government. Be it a £1, £5 ,£10 or more it will all help us immensely. Its a concerning time, our community would suffer immensely without our care, support, service and being a 24/7 response team that also supports London hospitals , London ambulance , police , mental health crisis team, domestic violence , addiction services. We like our clients need help. Stills from our silent protest. Outside Parliament, we stood together - patients, advocates, and allies - to demand change for everyone living with Metastatic Breast Cancer (MBC). We stood for better treatment access. We stood for real data collection. We stood for the 31 women who die every day from MBC. And we stood for those still waiting - for progress, for visibility, for hope. #FabricOfOurLives #METUPUK #MBCDay #BCAM25 #DarkerPink #IAmThe31 #Stage4NeedsMore #StageIVNeedsMore #BusyLivingWithMets #MetastaticBreastCancer #SecondaryBreastCancer #AdvancedBreastCancer #BreastCancerAwareness #BreastCancerCommunity #BreastCancerSupport

@sophieRblake @NathanielD93744 Thank you to you both for continuing to support choice for those who are terminally ill - anyone who has watched a love one die in pain despite the best palliative care should understand the importance of choice around a dignified death ❤️

The level of abuse being targeted at myself and @NathanielD93744 since Friday is off the scale. So many calling us evil selfish monsters, murders, Nazis, working for satan, that God wants us to suffer. Accusing us of being paid activists, not having terminal cancer, personal comments on our appearances, whilst also telling us they hope we die soon and how to kill ourselves etc etc etc. Whatever your opinion of this Bill, these comments are not how to engage in a respectful debate or conversation, which both of us have been happy to do. I hope none of these people ever face a terminal diagnosis or experience the trauma of watching a loved one die in agonising pain, they might suddenly feel very differently.

To the trolls who commented on my weight and untucked shirt: 1. I’ve spent 8 months taking steroids to avoid brain cancer causing seizures. I’m not happy with the associated weight gain either. 2. I have a stoma/colostomy bag, which means a shirt doesn’t fit over it well- sorry!

Collaborative digital transformation is a running theme at #Rewired2025 On Tuesday, @RMitchell_NHS, @WMonaghanHealth, and @HayleyGrafton will share how their EPR is helping unlock radical ambitions for seamless regional collaboration. On Wednesday, @pvolkaerts will explain how a cloud #EPR architecture can transform the NHS into one interconnected network, with the patient at the centre of care. Then Debbie Loke, Jonathan Cort, and James Hawkins will elaborate on personal collaboration experiences around Nervecentre, from joint procurement to regional deployment support. There’s a clear message: shared technology is a catalyst for impactful change across the #NHS. Come and see us on stand 150 to find out more. #DigitalTransformation #HealthcareInnovation #NHSCollaboration

Compassion and safety are the cornerstones of Kim Leadbeater MP’s assisted dying bill; bringing choice to those who want and need it as they die, but also introducing regulation and scrutiny where there is currently none.
