According to a shocking report by BBC News, 331 children tested positive for HIV in one single city in Pakistan, likely due to transmission through infected syringes.
These children were diagnosed within a single year in the Punjab province of Pakistan. Investigators ruled out vertical transmission in the majority of cases where mothers tested negative. Staff were seen to reuse syringe bodies (after changing the needle). Medical procedures were commonly performed without gloves. Some children have sadly died of complications of HIV, and the fate of many remains unclear.
An important learning point was found - a syringe contains a needle connected to the syringe body. Even if you change the needle, the syringe body can still be a reservoir for infection. If you see this in your practice, please point it out, as this can avoid an unnecessary tragedy.

@PharmWise Yes.
He or she is legally permitted to do so if they professionally judge it to be necessary.
English

@orxsco When calculating drug dosages, weight supersedes age.
It takes precedence over emotions.
Always give the correct dosage and counsel on adverse reactions and side effects.
If administering the correct dose causes you to lose your peace, consider an alternative medication.
English

@PharmWise It is subjective and largely depends on the specific career path and stage of the pharmacist. In the Nigerian context, due to staff shortages, some early-career pharmacists—especially those in hospital settings—lack a work-life balance, contrary to popular opinion.

There are many ways to encourage Christian alertness. One of the best is for believers to talk together about the ways of the Lord.
gospelbellsradio.com/1-thessalonian…
*“Therefore let us not sleep, as others do, but let us watch and be sober.” - 1 Thessalonians 5:6 (NKJV)*
There are many ways to encourage Christian alertness. One of the best is for believers to talk together about the ways of the Lord. Christian and Hopeful, on their journey to the Celestial City, said to each other: “To prevent drowsiness in this place, let us fall into good conversation.”
Christian asked, “Brother, where shall we begin?” and Hopeful replied, “Where God began with us.” Then Christian sang:
“When saints grow sleepy, let them come here,
And hear how these two pilgrims talk together;
Yes, let them learn from them in every way,
To keep their drowsy eyes awake each day.
Fellowship of saints, if managed well,
Keeps them awake, in spite of hell.”
Christians who isolate themselves and walk alone are very likely to grow spiritually drowsy. But when you keep company with fellow believers, you’ll be kept awake, refreshed, and encouraged to make faster progress toward heaven. As you take “sweet counsel” with others, make sure the focus of your conversation is the Lord Jesus. Keep your eyes of faith fixed on Him, let your heart be full of Him, and let your lips speak of His worth.
Friend, stay close to the cross, and you will not sleep. Remind yourself often of the value of the place you are going. If you remember that heaven is your destination, you will not sleep along the way. If you think of hell behind you and the devil pursuing you, you will not linger. Would a man fleeing for his life sleep with the avenger of blood behind him and the city of refuge before him? Christian, will you sleep while the pearly gates stand open, while angels wait to welcome you, while a crown of gold is ready for your brow?
No, stay awake in holy fellowship. Continue to watch and pray, so that you do not fall into temptation.

Two Nigerian women lost their lives in related incidents in the USA last week. Nihinlolawa Agoro, described as an evangelist, was on her way to church when a drunk truck driver crossed the median and crashed into her car. She died with her two children.
Oluwalayomi Fadero, a computer science graduate and nursing student, died when a driver fleeing police chase crashed into her car. Layomi was a pet lover who had interned at Amazon as a software engineer, and was to graduate from nursing this August. Her dog survived.
Knowing that we’re all sitting ducks in this life, vulnerable to other people’s actions and mistakes, really sucks. You can stay in your lane, be a good person and end up a victim while the lawbreaker in your story survives. And best efforts notwithstanding, government cannot eliminate all risks because people will always find a way to be people. May their loved ones be comforted.

When Pain Relief Became the Second Emergency
A young man fell off a ladder and was rushed to the ER. He was screaming in pain and demanding relief. An intern gave Tramadol. Reasonable call, chaotic moment.
Minutes later: unusual drowsiness. Then, barely arousable.
A missed detail surfaced later. He had been drinking and was under the influence of alcohol.
Tramadol + Alcohol = additive CNS depression, respiratory risk and unpredictable sedation.
What looked like routine analgesia had quietly become a dangerous combination.
In emergency medicine, pain is urgent but history is critical.
Even in trauma: check for alcohol or drug use, watch for subtle signs (odor, behavior, GCS shifts), and choose safer alternatives when in doubt.

@Arkasiraee Great write-up.
However, the statement "no animal eats the raw cashew nut" is false; wild monkeys and squirrels have been observed eating them.
English

Cashews grow on trees with a shell so toxic that processing them requires protective equipment to avoid chemical burns.
The shell contains urushiol - The same compound in poison ivy.
This is the plant telling you: "Don't eat this."
It is an evolutionary mechanism of the plant.
You ignored the warning.
Cashews are also:-
- High in lectins (gut damage)
- High in phytic acid (mineral blocker)
- 45% carbohydrate (blood sugar spike)
- Contain oxalates (inflammation trigger)
They're never sold raw because raw cashews can cause allergic reactions so severe they require hospitalization.
"Raw" cashews in health food stores are steamed to remove toxins. The plant's defense chemicals are so problematic they require industrial processing to make them merely "somewhat harmful" instead of "actively dangerous."
No animal eats the raw cashew nut in the wild as they can sense the danger.
Cashews are also a common allergen. Your immune system recognizes them as a threat and attacks. This is your body working correctly, not a malfunction.
You're eating tree nuts that require chemical processing to not poison you, and calling it a healthy snack.
