Around this time last year, ICOYACA was in Lusaka, Zambia, for the inaugural AfCFTA Digital Trade Forum (8 to 10 May 2025), joining conversations shaping the continent’s digital trade agenda and ensuring youth perspectives were part of the room. Since then, momentum around digital trade has only grown. In February 2025, Nigeria was named Africa’s Digital Trade Champion, reinforcing the urgency around implementing the AfCFTA Digital Trade Protocol. Digital payments, digital identity, MSME exports, and the creative economy are no longer side conversations. They are central to how AfCFTA will work in practice. As Africa moves forward, the real question is: What do young African traders and founders need most to scale across borders?
